I've posted here few weeks ago. I had surgery booked for Tuesday. When he operated surgeon said small tumours had spread around stomach, bowel, intestines so he couldn't remove them.
Scan said cancer was contained after 6 rounds of chemo so I was devasted when he couldn't remove them. I have long vertical scan which is painful. Also, having back pain for last 2 weeks which I think is the cancer.
So, am sitting on bed in hospital in complete despair. My surgery was in other hospital so I've been referred back to my oncologist. They haven't contacted me yet.
Looks like I've been abandoned now with no hope.
Any advice would be appreciated

I am so sorry Leopard2018, after all the build up to surgery, not to get a result is really hard.
But don’t despair, I know someone who had a similar thing happen and she’s been doing well on chemo. You might also ask for a second opinion on the surgery?
Rest up and regroup, then be ready when you are able to speak to your oncologist xx
Hi There, this has happened to me twice last year but I'm still here and very well. You will get through it, and your oncologist will have a revised plan. Its gutting when the surgery fails but there are other drug options and hopefully more coming. Try to relax and heal for now, you've got this xx
Yes, my surgeon did well but after surgery told me that my bowel was like sandpaper (it’s supposed to be smooth) that was all the tiny cancer seeds he could not remove, and too extensive for a stoma to work.
That was January 2017 and you wouldn’t believe what a great life I’ve had since then. Yes, I had 2 hospital stays with partially blocked bowel, but I got over those. I’m on chemo again (5th line). I was told last December my prognosis was months not years BUT my last CT scan showed a marked reduction in the liver metastasis and suddenly I can make plans for a future I didn’t think I’d have.
I can’t know what you will face in the future, but neither can you, or your health professionals. Please don’t give up now. It looks like you may need to fight for better attention, or have someone to fight for you. Maybe you could have a word with the Ovacome admin., or a charity in your hospital, or your local Patient Advice and liaison Service (try both hospitals ), if you are not getting the attention you need. There is also the right of a second opinion . Just don’t give up!
I send lots of virtual hugs as you clearly need them.
Wow Irisisme I love your attitude! I’m on my third round of chemo and was on Olaparib for three years. Since 2018 I’ve had a total of 18 months with no treatment and I’ve enjoyed it but the prospect of more and more chemo is daunting to me. I really admire your positivity.
So sorry to hear how you're feeling and I don't blame you. Awful to have an op for nothing. I hope by now you're out of hospital. If not, and you're still feeling low, perhaps ask to see the chaplain - you don't have to be a Christian. When I despaired after my op, a nurse came and prayed for me and it just helped me to feel less hopeless. Good advice from all the ladies here. Do you have much support at home? Try to get someone to come in with you when you see your oncologist to ask the questions you forget to ask. I sincerely hope your team has a Plan B. A friend of mine at my hospital - different cancer - was offered one but it turned out to be just Plan A again. I am mentioning Fenbendazole as well but you would have to clear it with your team. Best of luck and virtual hugs. xx
How are you doing now, are you home? So hard to deal with a situation like this, I cannot imagine how you are feeling. Yiu can ask to speak to a Macmillan nurse. Have you tried contacting your specialist nurse? There will be a plan B for sure but I do think in a situation like this there should be some immediate follow up to reassure you. Who knows what is around the corner for any of us? Keep the faith 🙏 Thinking of you as you try & gey through this ordeal. We are all with you 🤗 xxx
Oh no. Sorry you're back in hospital. It ain't easy as Ringo might say. I have recently had bad news on latest scan. It never ends ... Keep your spirits up. Try to regain your strength. xx
