For my mom's second recurrence, the doctor suggested Gemcitabine and Avastin without Carbo, as she got kidney issues and potential liver mets with the last regimen with Carbo+Caelyx. Has anyone used Gem and Avastin without Carbo? Was it effective? Did you have any side effects?
Thank you so much for your advice and we wish everyone here for a long remission!

hi centaur17. I haven’t tried this combination but what I would say is. It’s a form of chemotherapy and then avastin to assist the chemo. There are lots of various treatments that are not always chemo that are working. So if you trust and feel confident in your team then this could be a good solution. After all we need the kindest treatment with the best outcome . Hopefully someone will come back to you with more information.
Hi! I have had one recurrence and I was started on Avastin and Doxil. I had pretty severe skin rashes and mouth sores after 2 rounds of Doxil, so they switched me to gemcitabine and avastin. It was MUCH more tolerable. I have been NED since that was complete in the fall of 2021. The only side effects that I recall were fatigue, and muscle and joint pain from the Avastin. I wish you and your Mom the best!
Hi thejoannabell, thank you so much for your reply! That sounds very encouraging - I'll share it with my mom. I hope you are doing well and wish you stay healthy (as healthy as can be!) for many many years to come!
