carbo/gem chemo

I’ve just been told today I have recurrence and go back in 6 weeks to see my oncologist to see when treatment will start.

I’ve read conflicting things about hair loss, my onc said I will only get some thinning to my hair…but I’ve read quite the opposite and that I will have total hair loss. I’ve already lost my hair twice before but really hoped I wouldn’t this time around. Any ladies here had the same combo of chemo and what happened to your hair??

Thank you in advance for any replies, and sending much love to you all xx 😘

No clumps of hair. I've had some thinning for sure but not noticeable. I lost my all my hair while on my initial treatment of Carbo/Taxol.

I had this combination and I lost a little hair but really nothing noticeable at all.

Thank you, I’m just worried about bald patches…I do have very thick hair too x

I definitely had no bald patches and if you have thick hair a bit of thinning shouldn’t be obvious. Good luck with the treatment!

Thank you, seems like it affects people differently x

I've been on the same regime for a few weeks, almost completed - no major hair loss, just some thinning, not even very noticeable.

Hi I’m on this regime at the moment, I’ve had 5 out of 6 cycles. My hair has been falling out in lumps when I wash it and has thinned considerably so has my eyebrows and lashes but not so as anyone else would notice unlike with Carbo/ Taxol. Wishing you luck with the treatment x

That’s sounds pretty drastic the way you described it…would you advise I wear a cold cap? I guess it affects people differently judging by these comments, some very little hair loss and lumps as you said….x

It’s so annoying I’ve been trying to grow my hair from last chemo and it’s almost to the length I want it and looks like I’m going to have to say goodbye yet again… :-(

Hi I know how you feel I lost all my hair first time round and hated it. However this time I’ve got bald patches on the scalp but the outer layers look normal so although I’d say it’s thinned by half nobody would realise except those closest to me. So judging on my own experience I wouldn’t say you need the cold cap . However as you say every experience is different x

I’ve been told my my nurse specialist that the cold cap is NOT offered for gem/carbo, anyone else been told that?
