How long does it take for ca 125 to drop with caelyx/ carboplatin?

Hope all good.

Do you have any idea, maybe based on personal experience ,

How long the tumour market ca 125 started decreasing with caelyx/carboplatin?

Just to have an idea, as my ca 125 went up from first infusion ( only caelyx) was ca 125 = 345, to second infusion( now combination carbo+caelyx) is ca 125= 695 😞😓

If does not decrease i suppose only ct scan will reveal if is working or not...

My own experience is that it drops after the first infusion I'm on this presently for my first recurrence my CA125 dropped from 915 to 500 after the first one I'm having #6 in a couple weeks my last one (crossing my fingers) My CA125 is presently at 14. I had a Pet Scan after #3 showed clear all enlarged lymph nodes had resolved.

Oh that is amazing Saintgermain My doctor told it should be to a severe obstruction of colon I just had.ive been hospitalised since 03/01.

Crossing my fingers I have as half as good as you.

My experience is that it went up after my first infusion (apparently something to do with how it breaks the cancer down) and then started to fall in 500s. I have had a little break so hoping it hasn’t risen again in the meantime.

My oncologist did say something about the possibility it might not work so I have also been concerned xx

My experience is that it dropped after the first round. I have had 5 rounds so my CA125 has gone from 515 to 21. Good luck with your treatment I’m sure your oncologist has everything in hand. Take care xx

It's very common for CA125 to rise at first with caelyx. It's very individual as to how long it takes to start to fall. Try not to get hung up on figures - just trust your team.

My CA125 rose with first dose which my oncologist said can happen, not unusable. Then subsequent dosage came down. Hang in in there. 😘❤️ xxx

when I started on this combo my Ca125 was 778. It halved after one round and after 6 rounds it was 7. I have been on Niraparib since then - sadly it is very slowly increasing again but I grab life whilst I can. Best Wishes 🙏

I am told that CA125 is a reliable indicator for me but it has never been really low despite remission when on Niraparib for a year and even after radical surgery and chemo it was about 15. I have Primary peritoneal cancer which is impossible to get rid of it seems. I am on my first recurrence after a 2021 diagnosis and initial treatment and almost at the end of six months of Caelyx with Carboplatin although I have had to miss the last two Carboplatin as they had to stop the infusion in both cases because I have developed an allergy to it,, after 12 doses. My CA125 was 6000 on starting treatment this time, much the same as last time, and had gone down to around 600 after three cycles with both drugs, after an initial rise. We are all different and CA125 is affected by inflammation elsewhere so please don't get too hung up on it. It is not a reliable marker for everyone and I hope my comparatively astronomical figures reassure you a bit as I feel fine.

I just wanted to let you know about some information about this from the Foundation for Women’s Cancer, who are a non-for-profit organisation based in the U.S, who support research, education, and public awareness of gynaecological cancers. They published booklet earlier this year titled ‘CA125 levels: Your guide’ which explains more about CA125 and how it is used in a clinical setting. Please be aware that as this is a U.S resource, the organisations listed at the end may not be as relevant for those based outside of the U.S. This outlines:

“Some chemotherapy and biologic agents used in recurrent disease treatment, such as pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (Doxil – US equivalent of Caelyx) and topotecan (Hycamtin), require closer scrutiny as a significant number of patients may have a rise in their CA 125 values — as much as 30%— after their first cycle of chemotherapy, and yet go on to respond to these drugs upon continued administration. Some patients even have a rise in CA 125 after their second or third cycle and still had a favorable treatment outcome”
