my lovely mum just finished 6 rounds of carbo caelyx after recurrring 11 months from frontline.

Her mid treatment scan showed a reduction in all tumours and post 6 a further reduction.

She has a cold currently and ca125 is 113. Her oncologist said he’s very happy with her and they will go back to 3 monthly catch ups. In the meantime she should live her life. He said he’d never expect a ‘clean’ scan after a recurrence and hopefully it’s a long time until the cancer starts to grow again.

Has anyone else gone onto a chemo break with a higher than normal ca125?

Hi. That's the situation I was in after carbo/caelyx for my first recurrence. But I was able to go on Olaparib abd that got rid of the remaining cancer. However my oncologist reacted the same as your mum's. She said it was a "nice result." I was quite upset. But maybe your mum's won't be active for a long long time. I hope so.
