1 year since my operation so celebrated on holiday's 🙌🌄 🇬🇷

Just an update, it was a year on 7th September that I had my debulking after 4 chemo then 2 following the operation with avastin added to last infusion. I'm also on olaparib, it's been a battle with joint pains and fatigue but I'm still here!!. I was stage 4 hgsc brca negative but hrd positive at diagnosis and am now NED 🥳🥰 holding ca 125 at 7. I have my days when I wobble mentally but mostly I am positive 😌 ✨️ anyway posting holiday pics to give any newbies hope and strength 💪X

That’s such a wonderful post to read! Well done to you and your medical team. By the way, it’s normal to have a wobble or two. I’m 20+years NED and I still think, sometimes, occasionally, ‘is this IT back?’ I volunteer with a Gynae cancer support group and it’s a frequent topic of conversation in our groups. We all agree, we never lose that little naggler on our shoulder who says “it could be back….”. Thankfully, we’re often able to put that little naggler back where it belongs: in a box in the corner of your mind! You’ve done remarkable well. Keep on keeping on!

I was diagnosed with stage 3c ovarian cancer and I’m only 53 . my operation went well and all visible cancer was removed Im just starting chemo and I just want some positive examples of folks surviving my stage of cancer. Any more positive stories would really help please!!

I'm 52, was 51 at diagnosis bur had been to gp 2yrs before!! You have done the hard bit with the operation 😊 the chemo isn't as bad as you think, drink plenty of fluid before during and after, and let yourself rest up. Get little walks in and eat well, fresh fruit,veg + soups. You'll be fit before you know it X

Glad it helped you. This time next year I want to see a holiday post from you! 😜😘 I did go in January too buy I was physically ready! This holiday I swam, sailed, snorkeling, walked and it was lovely. Give yourself time to heal and rest up and you WILL get there xxx

What a lovely post you look gorgeous, and like you lm on one of my holidays l got within 12 hours this time of my operation but it didn't happen so booked us a holiday. And of course got myself a new frock my way of dealing with things. So next date for operation is the 28th Sept. Ive got a feeling it will happen this time please god. Hope everyones coping and trying to stay positive 6 years next month for me. When my journey started so there is hope believe me. SheilaFxxx

Well done you. My anniversary is 22nd September. I’m a 3b but otherwise the same as you. Who did your holiday insurance? I’m looking and finding it very expensive. Enjoy your holiday x

Insure with are the best for cover, but I just took my health card and we already had normal cover so I just went!! I thought well it's 1 week, I feel fit and well and I took 10days off all meds 🥳🤗it was worth it! X

Congratulations, you’re doing so well. Keep positive and enjoy your holiday you certainly deserve it. I was diagnosed with stage 4b OC in July. Just completed 3rd chemo. Appt booke next with surgeon and oncologist 2nd October. All another chemo booked on 4th. Ca125 coming right down now 187 and looking good 😊. I am looking into other alternatives to beat the cancer and have ordered the book ‘how to starve cancer’ it has come with recommendations. A woman who was diagnosed with cervical cancer had treatment for 5 yrs the developed lung ca. she was told no further treatment and had a matter of 3 months. She did her own research and enveloped this book with her findings and success now cancer free. Also many people have followed the plan and have done well. We have nothing to loose as with our diagnosis there will be a time we’re the treatment will be no more. I want to live and my saying goes ‘ I can do this, I can beat this I am strong’. Pleas have a look at the book, & reviews. Best of luck please keep well and enjoy your holiday.

I am reading it right now! I had already started oxygen therapy before even starting chemo last June, I go twice a week and also cut out sugar as much as possible and only eat fish and a little chicken. All vegetarian as fresh as possible and as many vitamins I can get. The new food plan is definitely making me feel healthier 😌 good luck and stick at the positivity xxx

Such a joyful photograph of great significance. On my way back from the hospital for wound breakdown management as I read your message. It was the boost I needed to keep on keeping on. Always good to have a holiday to aim for especially being in the water.

It looks very lush and hot where you are. Keep enjoying being NED and that lovely low CA-125.

So happy that you had such a nice holiday and you look great. Are you still taking the parp. with Avastin. I have not found very many people with this combo. I have had my second treatment and other than being tired and some of the joint pain feel great. However I have developed a rash that is very itchy. I am hoping this will work for me. My level is dropping which is great. I have one more treatment and then a scan to see progression. Sending positive vibes.

Have you tried taking an anti histamine? Ring the gp if that doesn't work. I haven't had a rash but I've had itchy eyes now and again. I think the menopause can cause a change and make us more allergic to things too. Yes I'm sure this treatment will work for you too! 🥰 the joint pain stiff neck thing is annoying but some days are better than others xxx

Hi Newbery3, well done to getting through what is probably the hardest thing you have ever happened to you. It is not only hard on your body, but also mentally too, but I think half the battle in getting through is having a positive mind. A holiday abroad really picks you up & helps you forget for a little while. We had booked a holiday abroad before I was Diagnosed Jan 2019 at 53yrs & my husband said, we are not cancelling it because it will help you get through everything & he was right. 10 days after finishing chemo we headed off, bald & weak but it felt brilliant. I have seen my then 19 yr & 16 yr old daughters graduate from college & recently start work in their chosen careers. I never thought I would see that day, but I have!! Even though I had a recurrence in 2020 I am still here & feeling really well & getting my life back again. Hopefully my story, like yours will help all the women too who have been recently diagnosed & are on our journeys now. I wish you & all the ladies well going forward X

great news, I wanted to know if you could provide some details regarding olaparib. My mom was diagnosed stage 4 hgs hrd positive and they have told us that she doesn’t not qualify. Thank you for any details!

Hi lind58 🥰 where are you in the world? I'm in South wales UK. I know that in this country, if you are HRD positive, you qualify. Are you in the UK? I'm also on Avastin did your mother get offered that treatment? X

Then I think you need to ask your oncologist what the reason is that your mum doesn't qualify? It may be down to money 💰 and that's wrong! Or they may be keeping it incase of reoccurrence, I was told to attack the cancer head on straight off the bat with both drug's by Christina Fotopoulou, look her up she's amazing! Maybe get a 2nd opinion if you don't get the answers from your mum's team 🥰 Big Cwtch x
