hi, I am not sure of the drug name but I used to get a cbc booster shot 24 hours after every chemo cycle. That ensured my counts were relatively ok through the entire treatment.

Hi Cazy, yes I had a similar injection a day after each chemo. It can bring on joint pain but taking an antihistamine really helps…best of luck, Mags xxx

Hi Cazy, I had them for 5days after each round of Chemo, they defiantly keep your bloods right while you are on Chemo. I was a bit scared to inject myself the first time and was going to ask a neighbour who is a nurse to do it but she wasn't at home so had to do it myself, it was nothing. I was fine with it.

Filgastim won't stop your neutrophils dropping but they do help them come back up faster. My neutrophil level can change dramatically and rise by as much as 0.7 in 24 hours which means It makes a difference to cancelling or continuing with chemo. My neutros are always too low for chemo but they repeat my blood test in the therapy unit which is just 24 hours from the previous BT and it always shows that my neutrophils have increased just enough over 24 hours so that chemo can go ahead. I had my final cycle on Tuesday and my BT from Monday neutros were down to 1.0, repeat BT on Tuesday morning and neutros were 1.64 so chemo continued.

Yes they work. I struggled to inject myself so a nurse came in to give me mine. It meant my neutrophil were good enough for my next chemo treatment could go ahead.

After every chemo I had injections of Pelgraz (or similar) and it worked great. Never had my leukocytes under the normal range.

I had to do them for 7 days after both carbo/taxol and carbo /caelyx . I only one delay for a week for neutaphils.

Hello I had to have G-CSF injections to improve my neutrophils both with carbo and carbo caelyx chemo. I did experience some delays but they did improve my neutrophils. Once you get used to injecting yourself I found it fine and changing the injection site helped as well. Hope you are getting on okay with them. Di.
