Hi to you all,I'm a bit down today and hope it's okay to offload on you guys.
Been having back and stomach pain on 'watch and wait' and my onc said this morning that a gammography showed several metastases on the spine. I already had two bone mets but seems to be spreading fast.
So I am now platinum resistant and he's looking for a trial.
I looked up spinal metastases and the effects are not pleasant. So I'm trying to be brave but really feeling quite sorry for myself.
Love and best wishes,
Martine xx

Hi , you can off load all you want xx I don’t know how you keep going but you do , your strength will get you through this so hugs and much love to you 💗💗
My heart goes out to you Riverflo. Of course you can offload to us … we are all in this together and care about each other. We all support each other through our down times. If you have faith, prayer will help, if not you can find your inner strength, perhaps in nature or meditation or simply being quiet and breathing deeply. You have been very strong so far and you can do it again. Go girl! God bless you. Sending lots of love ❤️
Hi RiverfloYou are in the right place to off load. We are all here for you and listen. Anytime you want to off load, please do. We all do and we all need to offload to someone, somewhere. We all understand eachother what we are going through. Tough time..
Sending you lots of love, hope your consultant find you a trial works for you. Norie🙏🩷🙏🩷🙏🩷
Completely understandable that you would be feeling down and want to offload. It's often difficult to offload to family as you don't want to burden them or upset them. Have you spoken to your specialist nurse or been in touch with the ovacome support? My thoughts and prayers are with you and hope you can get some better pain management too. 🙏 🌹.
Thank you, that's exactly it, my family are great but of course they're already suffering watching me suffer so the support from you guys is invaluable. I'm in Spain, we don't have specialist nurses here but my onc is calling this afternoon so hopefully he will have some news
I have good pain management available , just a bit scared of using the fentanyl yet (seems a bit too Trainspotting) but good to know it's there.
So the cancer in the bones is ovarian? That is so unusual. I remember going through a difficult time and reading the Parliament series by trollope and watching his Barchester series...take care
Yes it is unusual but it sounds like it can end up in a variety of places. I haven't read Trollope yet, will have a look.I have been reading like crazy due to back pain and hot weather. Loved Demon Copperhead, Remarkably bright Creatures, and Sea Women (by Lisa See).
I'm sorry to hear that you are going through a worrying time and feeling down after your recent appointment.
Our support team are here for you. If there is anything at all that you would like to talk through, please do get in touch with us. You can give us a call on 0800 008 7074, or send us an email at support@ovacome.org.uk. We're here from Monday to Friday, 10am to 5pm.
Hi Martine - it’s rotten when there is so much waiting for decisions etc. We are the ones to share with. Hope the conversation this afternoon can lift your spirits. Sending love and hugs, Angela ❤️🤗💐
Hi Martine. I feel terrible for what you’re going through. I hope you can find a trial quickly. Have you looked into Elahere(name in US for new drug)? Sending hugs to you.
I hear you loud and clear. After four recurrences of OVCA, I’ve come to realize that I’ll probably never be cured and just have to keep this disease knocked back as best I can. I understand your frustration and fatigue at the concept of having yet more treatment. It’s a very personal decision, but it also affects all those around us who love us, so please don’t forget about them and their support. I will say prayers for you and all my OVCA sisters who are dealing with this life-altering disease.
Thanks Leniko,My family are so supportive, and I worry about how much they suffer too but it's good to talk to people who share the experience I'm going through.
I'm feeling down because the treatment options are now so limited. I'd feel better if we could just keep reusing all the same options but I'm now platinum resistant and the end of the line feels like more of an imminent reality.
Dear Riverflo. Probabely I'm not able to help you, but nothing that feeling you are not alone can bring some consolation. I fully understand what You are going through. I have HGSOC (diagnosed in 2019) and now, despite multiple treatmens my desease is in rapid progression. The metastases covered the peritoneum and also developed under the skin in areas that had recently undergone 3 treatments of intraperitoneal chemotherapy (PIPAC). I am now on radiotherapy, which unfortunately has not reduced the subcutaneous metastases so far. Next week I start an experimental targeted therapy with the drug "ENHERTU". My marker has risen dramatically and the only hope is that the proposed therapy will stop the progression of the disease. I am being treated in Switzerland. I send you hugs.
Hi Reksio,I'm sorry, it really sounds like you have gone through the mill too. I have been looking at trials but haven't seen your one. Do you live in Switzerland or are you going there specifically for the treatment?
I really hope it stops progression and gives you better quality of life.
Life is so different than we imagined. What we are prepared to go through for some extra time and it's certainly all been worth it so far.
Dear Riverflo, I live in Switzerland, so somehow I'm lucky to have an access to experimental treatments. Nevertheless, even here one cannot count on miracles. For the time being, my general condition is good, so I still have the strength for further exhaustive therapies. And I am a member of the Exit Association, which gives me the illusion that I can leave this world on my own terms, without pain and with dignity.
Thank you Reksio, I have never heard of the Exit Association but sounds interesting, I'll look it up.I live in Spain and the healthcare has been great but it can feel a bit isolating at times.
For people from abroad, there is an organisation called "Dignitas" in Switzerland. Assisted euthanasia is allowed by law here. The late writer Therry Pratchett, among others, advocated such a solution. Of course, such arrangements are subject to a whole series of requirements and tests. For me, the existence of such a solution is in itself a kind of relief. But above all, I wish you good health and a long life.
Hi Martine, I've just woken up here in Australia & am so sad to read your news. You've come so far & remained courageous throughout, a true Warrior Woman. I have no doubt that you will face whatever is ahead for you with the same courage & spirit. I hope you are feeling the love and support from all of us here, all over the world, and know that we are here for you always love & hugs, Irene xxxxx
Hi Maritine, just sending my love and prayers to you at this special time with your journey. I have been reading all of the other ladies messages and there is much support on here. Just to know that you are thought about from all over the world. You are loved, Donna xx 🙏 Blessings
I am so sorry that you find yourself in this situation and really hoping that a suitable and effective trial can be offered to you. Sending my very best wishes.
