Struggling with Chemo cisplatin & epitoposide

I have reoccurrence stage4 high serous grade ovarian. It came back quite quickly. I am halfway through my 8 week chemo cycle which has been so harsh this time round. I am having cisplatin and epitoposide tablet. I was told my Ca125 was heading in the right direction a few weeks ago. After a week off I was to restart chemo week 5 but couldn't because my bloods, infection rate was too low, still waiting for results of last blood test but don't hold out much hope as keep being sick, can't seem to hold down drink or food. I have tried anti sickness tablets. Very bloated and feeling more breathless. Less and less energy.

Has anyone else experienced this?

My first lot of chemo last year I coped well.

Any advice much appreciated.

Many thanks

Hi, So sorry that you are feeling so unwell. You should really speak to your team,or your Macmillan nurse, who will advise you. There are several anti sickness type tablets you could have, as maybe the one you are taking is not suitable for you. Please don't put up with feeling so ill. I hope that you feel better soon.x

Im sorry you feel rough. Cisplatin is harsh (I speak from experience). Please dont suffer, there are other antisickness you can try. Speak with yr team, u shouldnt be feeling so bad. Best wishes x

I suffered with sickness too. I got the district nurses to put up a syringe driver with anti sickness medication the day before my chemo. It helped a great deal.

Definitely speak to your team. It sometimes needs some trial and error to get the right combination of ant sickness medication. Sending hugs!

I am so sorry you are feeling so bad and it’s come back so fast mine has too . I have done carbo taxol then carbo doxil and then cisplatin and gemzar all within 3 years very short 2 month’s remission and none after cisplatin just reduction of tumors now on avastin again Keytruda and a pill called cyclophosphamide That doesn’t seem to be working either so I was told to try getting into a trial

Howeve everybody is different and they should be able to manage the nausea and low bloods with maybe neulasta

I certainly hope you find a combo that will work for you. Keep fighting on be good to your self too!

Oh, Maya I feel so sad for you but please don't lose hope. I'm on maintenance now (Avastin) after finishing chemo for 2nd recurrence of Stage 4 High Grade Serous and it's working well.

Follow up on what has been suggested by others here. You shouldn't have to feel that sick.

Sending Love. xx

That's so great to hear and gives me hope too, I wish you all the best. I am in hospital now, I had ascites and other side effects from the chemo, so I am in the right place and hopefully re start chemo soon, oc is shrinking.

Thanks again. Xxx
