Hello Cazy,

I can’t remember back pain with my first debulking but it was 5 years ago, but I had a second debulking 10 days ago and I’m definitely struggling with some back pain now and have been since I came round from the op. The surgeon said often it’s due to us being on the operating table then spending a lot of time lying in bed, and then holding our bodies differently due to the wound.

Mine is easing off a bit but I’m still taking over the counter pain meds every day. I’m sure the backache will ease once we are more mobile and up and about a bit more. Don’t know about you but I’m spending alot of time still flopping around at the moment!

Hope you feel better soon take care

yes I have. I put it down to being relatively immobile for a period of time or holding myself quite tensely. It has seemed to ease as my mobility increased. Best wishes

Yes, I just had my surgery on 3 March and i had lower back pain before and after my treatment. It got better for me in the 4th week of recovery. I am still pretty immobile finding it difficult to walk for longer periods.

hi, yes I experience back pain after total hysterectomy and debulking surgery. Specially if I stand for a while. It seems to be getting a little better, been 7 weeks now since surgery. Anyone experience pain in their stomach area after surgery? It hurts to walk at times too. Thank you for all replies..so helpful, jackie

I get back pain if I sit for too long and stay in bed too long as well , I’m nearly 4 weeks post op and feel like ive done a full gym work out and never seen the inside of a gym !!!!!

I was told to do stretches, they do help..just lightly arms up over your head, side to side..helped me a lot. ❤️

I’d see a doc. I had terrible, throbbing back pain, both sides. A physiatrist (doc of physical therapy) said I have sacroiliitis and have me a steroid injection into each side. My pain is gone! Sometimes, they can do things to ease the pain.

Hi there,

Yes, I had dreadful back pain and didn’t realise that it was primarily because we’re kept in one position on the operating table for a long period. This isn’t normal for our bodies and I guess the muscles in the back are affected by this. Even the young woman opposite me had the same problem!

It does eventually ease off but took several weeks in my case, though easing off gradually.

All the best with your recovery.
