Bit of a blow, advice needed

A couple of weeks ago, I ended up having an urgent CTscan because my GP had sent me for an ultrasound, then called my to say I had cancer in my stomach and bowel. Long story short, she did me a favour doing the ultrasound as the CT scan showed that it has come back, in the peritoneum, however not the bowel of stomach. I wasn’t due for a scan until June so it’s been caught sooner rather than later.

I was taking Niraparib but my oncologist who I do have great faith in said it wasn’t working for me. He has taken me off it and wants me to have a treatment break of 4/5 weeks. I’m the subject of a MDT and he is going to contact me towards end of April with a plan. It might be surgery and chemo or just chemo.

I know many of you lovely ladies have been through this. How likely is it that I will get surgery and chemo? I am hoping for both. He did say it’s up to what the surgeons think.

Hi, Sorry that you are in this position, but if I were you I would wait for the results of the MDTmeeting firstly. You could always have a second opinion. As your Oncologist said it will be up to the surgeon as to whether it is feasible or not. I have got high grade serous ovarian,and have so far had 2 recurrences in 8 years. However I feel fine at present and live a good life and take each day as it comes. I hope all turns out well for you whatever the decision.x

Thankyou so much. I think I had such faith in the Niraparib that it was a shock to find it back, a year to the day from my debulking surgery. I also have high grade serous ovarian cancer and was stage 4 grade a at diagnosis. I am staying positive, thanks to all the support via this site and all of you. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

The same happened to me, now on 6 rounds 3 weekly Cisplatin and 15 days Etoposide tablet. 1 week off and then start the next round for a further 3 weeks. When I last saw the Oncologist who was a different one to normal, she didn't give me any positivity but reading the other ladies articles is so helpful and gives you hope. She kept handing me tissues eventhough I was not crying,, just rather dazed.

When I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer I had operation then they said I would have to have a further op to remove my spleen. Fortunately the first 3 months of chemo killed what was there and I didnt have to go ahead with the second op, just had a further three months of Chemo. Have been on Niraparib for a year now and so far so good but you are always in fear of it returning. I hope all goes well with what your oncologist advise. Try to keep positive I know it must be hard, I haven’t experience a re occurrence but you have been strong when first diagnosed and you can beat it again. Good luck💕
