rubraca
Hi, I had Rubraca for 16months,and never had those problems, but everyone responds differently. Are you on a very high dose? You may need to speak to your team to see if it can be reduced. x
Hi. I just came off Olaparib after three years and I really struggled with fatigue the whole time. My oncologist prescribed Ritalin (methylphenidate) and it helped. I also had a dose reduction. Maybe you can ask about that? Good luck!
Yes, especially the morning fatigue and the lack of enthusiasm, although another slight dose reduction a couple of months ago does seem to have helped. I find that I make excuses for not doing things, but that actually if I push myself just a little bit harder, I can do more than I think I can. Interestingly, I went to an event yesterday where one of the speakers was talking about something similar. Her moto is "say YES more", as you don't know what's possible until you try something (new) and challenge yourself outside of your comfort zone. I'm going to do exactly that rather than sitting and letting life pass me by, (well, that's the plan 🤞) You may need to ask me again in 6 months. 😂
Best wishes
Sally
oh my this is just how I feel, mornings are dreadful, I try to push myself, decided to pop out only this morning to pick up some shopping, and found myself feeling very lightheaded and my legs are very shaky, I do not want to give in to it, but there are times I just have to, take care Sally and I really hope you can push forward and enjoy life 😊😊😊😊
Good morning SKpaints1
Thank you for your post. I’m sorry to hear that you have been experiencing low mood, fatigue and anxiety. I can see you’ve had some supportive replies from the forum community which I hope you have found helpful.
I wondered whether you have had the opportunity to discuss these symptoms with your oncologist or a member of your clinical team? They should be able to help identify their causes and offer some suggestions as to how these may be alleviated. As some forum members have mentioned, this may include a dose reduction to find a dose that suits you. In addition, your clinical team may be able to let you know about other specialist support to manage these symptoms. If you would like any help to plan or prepare for any future conversations with your clinical team, please do let us know.
I wanted to share a some resources with you that I hope may also be useful:
- - macmillan.org.uk/cancer-inf... - Macmillan have a page all about rucaparib (also know as rubraca) which lists potential side effects. Anaemia is listed as one of these, which can cause a lack of energy.
- ovacome.org.uk/fatigue-booklet
- ovacome.org.uk/coping-with-...
- ovacome.org.uk/looking-afte... - This page contains a recording of a webinar all about managing anxiety.
I that a conversation with a member of your clinical team is helpful and that your symptoms improve soon. If there’s anything you would like to talk through with the Ovacome support team, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can reply to us directly through this forum, email us via support@ovacome.org.uk or call our support line on 0800 008 7054. We’re here Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm.
