Hi ladies l hope you are all as well as you can be. I said back in July l would give you a update after finishing 6th recurrence. Thankfully the chemo has done it's job once more apart from a bit of spread in the peritoneal cavity generally things are good and ca125 has gone down to 16. Unfortunately this last line of chemo knocked my blood for 6 and had 3 blood transfusions due to anaemia where l suffered from shortness of breathe on little exertion, it's a little better but not at all like it was! I am also have a lot of trouble with neuropathy in my hands and feet and l have arthritis in both of these limbs so am a bit limited as to what l can do when l have flare ups! Anyway l am still alive and kicking albeit a lot less nowadays, the joys of getting old,but l am very grateful for what l have although like many of us l have down days! Take care ladies and l wish you all the very best. Pam x
Update: Hi ladies l hope you are all as well as... - My Ovacome
Update
Great to hear from you Pam. It’s fab to know that you are fighting the good fight and that chemo has worked again
I’m still here and in my 7th year, so far 1 recurrence, and a current small one currently under watch & wait. It’s important for newly diagnosed ladies to know that.
Love Marian xx
Hi Pam, I had a blood transfusion also due from a very low hemoglobin (6.5). I was also short of breath and I find climbing stairs can still affect me. My neuropathy still bothers me also along with arthritis. Your story sounds like mine with my CA 125 hanging around the 14 or 15 number. I am 76 and believe my age can be a factor in how I feel. Unfortunately, fatigue is another thing. Some days are better than others. Best wishes to you in your journey, Donna xx
Hi Donna, thank you for your reply, yes our stories are very similar l will be 76 on Sunday. I sailed through all the previous chemos but this last one floored me! As you say our age is probably telling on us now, l am not very accepting of this as l used to be so active but should be grateful for what l have. Take care of yourself Pam xx
Lovely to hear from you Pam! Fabulous news about your ca125…. Hopefully the breathing etc will improve as your body recovers xx
Thank you let's hope so,take care Pam
Hi Pam,Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I have had a third recurrence and thought I was probably near the end of the line as treatment options diminish, so it's heartening to hear that six recurrences are possible.
Love and best wishes,
Martine x
Hi Martine, thanks for replying, like yourself l thought treatment wouldn't be possible for so long but there is a lady on her who is now on 8th recurrence! I believe as long as you are strong enough the oncologist will do their best to keep you going.Good luck going forward take care. Pam x
Thank you so much for updating Pam. I hope you feel better as you recover. I'm so grateful for you sharing your story here as I face my 1st recurrence- it really helps xxx
Thank you l am slowly recovering,Good luck with your chemo and l hope it kicks it up the bum for good. Take care Pam x
Thanks for sharing your news. You are an inspiration to us all. Im 53 and having treatment for first recurrance. Was starting to feel sorry for myself but now I need to get my act together and just get on with it! Take care xxxx
Thank you for replying l was 65 when diagnosed and now nearly 76. I was quite fortunate with my chemo not too many side effects, but that all changed with this last line the bloods completely floored and had to have three blood transfusions which are slowly getting me back to some sort of normality!Don't beat yourself up about down days we all have to them.Good luck with going forward, take care. Pam x
What kind of chemo have you had?Are you still platino-sensitive? When you cancer have been diagosed? What stage if I can ask?
I have had various combinations, carbo platinum with taxol which taxol had to stop as l was allergic to it. Carboplatin on its own, carbo withe gemcibide caelyx and a parp inhibitor. Thankfully l am not platinum sensitive,l was diagnosed ten years ago with stage four ovarian cancer. Take care Pam
Dear Pam, thanks for sharing your impressive news! I’m so glad your last chemo was successful but honestly can’t imagine having that many rounds! I think you will eventually recover from the anemia and regain your fitness. Xx
I agree. A roller coaster. Some good days, some not so good. Just hoping the chemo is working! 🙏
Hi Leniko, l have just read your bio and you certainly have been on one big roller coaster,my dear Dad used to say what can't be cured must be enduredand you have certainly done that. I wish you all the best for the future. Pam.
