Morning all, I just wanted to share with you all in this community that my beautiful Mum, Janet, left us on Tuesday 13th December, at home with me, my brother and our Dad right by her side. I wanted to thank everyone on this group for all of your support and advice over the last 22 months. It has been a massive support for both me and Mum.
As some of you know Mums journey wasn’t a straight forward one, she was battling 2 primaries, ovarian and appendix. For what it’s worth it was the appendix cancer, goblet cell, that came back, and Mums ovarian treatment had seemed to have worked at keeping that at bay so far.
Mum was sadly failed enormously by the hospital in Manchester in the end, left from July to the end of September without any contact or treatment following diagnosis of ‘slight recurrence on lining of bowel’. Had she have been treated then I probably would not be sat here writing this now. She was left that long it went to stage 4 and she was then in bowel obstruction. I would urge anyone to not sit and wait for those letters for weeks like we did, chase chase chase your consultant/secretaries/CNS’s/PALS if you need to. Do not feel you’re a burden or shouldn’t be putting pressure on them. We’re all heartbroken beyond belief that it came to this.

So sorry you've lost your darling mum just Heartbreaking but really sound advice to everyone about chase our system at the moment , l agree in parts its very lacking and its extremely sad. 💔 thank goodness your mum had such a loving devoted daughter & family like you all by her side. I lost my sister the week before ,- bowel obstruction due to disease progression. She was offered treatment in April at probably the same stage as your mum and knew it would be her last chemo , it was gruelling and she was in and out of hospital , often emergency admittance with so many pain and breathing issues. She had determination and a good team and yes it gave her a few more months but I’m not sure in retrospect , she would make the same decisions again . We were very lucky to have her come home at the end
I hope you can focus on those good memories and not what might or might not have been. .
To have hope for the future we must all strive for more research and earlier diagnosis, watch out for symptoms in ourselves , our friends and loved ones .. it seems to be the best way to tackle this horrible disease

So sorry to hear of your mum's passing. Yes, it seems for many of us it's a fight to get treatment when in recurrence ......CT scans seem a poor diagnostic tool at times and they often decline to use PET scanning as I've tried. Please look after yourselves.
I am so very sorry for your loss. Mistakes made by those who are supposed to be caring for us are very hard to take- maybe a letter to the hospital will be helpful for your peace of mind and for future patients. Sending love.
I’m so very sorry about the way this unfolded for you, your mum, and family. We had a similarly frustrating experience with my mother’s situation only she had lung cancer. They wouldn’t retest for three months and by the time my father pressured them into another scan she had weeks left. It’s hard to let that go and I agree with the idea of pursuing the hospital to at least make things better for future patients. That might help you have some peace of mind eventually. Xx
I am deeply saddened by the loss of your Mum my heart goes out to you and your Family. Having to chase the system is nothing short of heart breaking. I'm in the States, take for granted accessing our health care promptly when we need it.

Very sorry to hear of your moms passing. It’s never easy, especially when you feel something could have helped her. You are very kind to want to help others while grieving her.

Sorry to hear of your mother Janet's passing & that you feel she was neglected by her hospital. Its too soon I am sure for you to seek answers from the hospital but maybe in time you could write to them & convey your feelings about her care. I hope the wonderful memories you have of your mother will get you all through the tough days ahead without her. Xx
so sorry for your loss. ❤️ unfortunately you have to be your own health advocate or get lost in the system. I live in USA and had to change cancer doctors. It’s so frustrating. Hope you have a happy healthy new year.
