Hi ladies, im just wondering if anyone is going through anything similar to me....
I had a total hysterectomy 4 days ago to remove a 13cm complex cyst.
My ca125 was 55
I am 57 years old
The cyst had twisted and caused severe pain right 2 days before my planned surgery 🙄
Im recovering well but conaultant said can take around 3 weeks for the lab results/pathology of the cyst. I am so worried its cancerous and I will need chemo. 😭
Has anyone else had a complex cyst removed from an ovary? What was the outcome?
Thanks in advance x

Hello, yes what you experienced is exactly what I experienced too.
My bio summarises what I went through. My cyst was cancerous and I did need chemo. I only needed to have carboplatin (and not taxol) and I found it very manageable. Please try not to worry and the wonderful group of women on here will help you every step of the way with the journey you are on xx
I had a 40cm cyst removed which turned out to be a mucinous borderline tumour, didn’t know until a few weeks after surgery. The waiting is horrible, but I know I was lucky, surgery should be curative (18 months ago and no recurrence). Your CA125 is quite low, and anyway isn’t necessarily an indicator. It’s so hard not to worry but try to focus on physical recovery if you can. Remember the majority of ladies on here have had bad news at some point but those with clear results are much less likely to be on here, the chances are it’s not cancer. Didn’t really make me feel any better whilst waiting though! Hoping you get good news.
I had a hysterectomy for non suspicious cyst CA125 was 30. I waited over a year for my surgery, I wasnt worried but it showed OC. I'm very lucky it's stage 1c. I am now waiting like you for the results of recent completion surgery. When I had my hysterectomy a friend was also in hospital with me having an urgent hysterectomy. Hers was benign. You just can never know until the results are in. Wishing you well and fingers crossed for good results like my friend xx
we all worry, and this in-between stage waiting for results is the worst. I had a complex cyst (15 cm on diagnosis, 17 cm 3 weeks later!) removed with total hysterectomy. Diagnosed at stage Ic, with a side of endometrial cancer stage Ia. 6 cycles of carboplatin (on its own because I have a bad allergy history and my oncologist decided the risk of allergic reaction to taxol was too high). Completed in November 2006, NED ever since.
Had a bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (ovaries and fallopian tubes removed) two weeks ago. There was a 5cm mucinous cyst on my left ovary. So also awaiting results. Was a big shock in the first place to be told that I need the oophorectomy on the 3rd August 2022, but thankfully the wait for my operation was not long. Had the op on the 24th September. Concentrating on getting well. Been out doing some short walks in the Autumn sunshine. Cannot do too much because I get tired. I too am a conditioned worrier. Each little twinge and each little pain gets my anxiety levels up. I live alone but my son comes over to do my shopping for me and takes out my rubbish (sorry garbage to our American cousins) x x x
Yes, i hade complex cyst 2016, 58 yrs old then, path report low grade 1a, still ok, my preop ca125 ok.
It will be ok, do not worry too much. I worried unnecesery all this years, just be relaxed. It can be just cyst, usually cyst are benign. Evan if it is not, like it did in my case, you came right in time.
