I hope and pray everyone is well. I wanted to ask if anyone has had avastin and when it ended did anyone relapse straight away?

Love and hugs to you all

Hi Sheenagh. I trialled Avastin back in 2007/8 and had a remission of just under 4.5 years. Kathy xx

Thank you all for your replies. Where I live and have my treatment there is another lady who has been on avastin for 6 six years. She took the hospital to the police and won. So they kept her on it. The consultant is telling me it’s only 22 cycles of it.

Hi SheenaghThis is a bit from years ago...but nevertheless a good news story.

I had Avastin ( for 15 months) alongside Carboplatin and Paclitaxel...finishing in Nov 2015....and no relapse yet! Thank heavens..

I think I have been extraordinarily lucky that it worked so well for me and a friend who is a microbiology professor says as it is a monoclonal antibody the normal pathway in non-cancer treatments would be to stay on it if that's any help.

Hi Sailorsue

I hope you don’t mind me asking but what stage cancer did you have?

Sheenagh xx

No of course I don't mind. Stage 4 with a 17cm inoperable tumour. After 2 cycles it had shrunk to 7cm and therefore became operable..

Hi I finished Avastin January 2018, was on it for a year ( 18 doses) no recurrence so far. Was diagnosed June 2016 stage 4 and had 4 chemo, surgery and 2 chemo.

Had my 5 year scan November 2021 and all clear.

Know how fortunate I am and count my blessings every day.

Haven’t been on here for a while but saw your question re Avastin and it reminded me of how scared I was to stop. Even asked for a second opinion to see if I should continue and try and self fund it. Will never know if Avastin made the difference but would have it again if I needed it and could get it.

Best wishes

Kim X

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. Did they not put you on any other maintenance treatment as well as avastin?
