Hi - my ca125 has gone up from 9 to 22. I am a little worried. I am on olaparib and had a short course of avastin. Has anyone else had this?

Hi Dancelover13, I am also on Olaparib… ca125 has gone up from 17 to 21 since October. Not a huge amount, still within normal range but it’s disconcerting! My oncologist is going to get me a scan because it’s a year since my last one. Not sure what to think tbh xx

Hi Lyndy,First of all, I like your cat! Anyway, it seems to have gone up that much in 3 weeks which worries me. I have spoken to cancer team and they said they will discuss it this week. I’m a bit scared. My last scan was clear so I don’t know what’s going on. Xx

I still haven’t had one yet 😕Got delayed and now scheduled for the week after Easter. Meanwhile ca125 went down by one point and stayed down last month…puzzled xx

I was treated for 3c in 2015. My ca 125 stayed at 5 for 5 years. Last spring it went from 5-10 after covid vaccines. This fall after booster it jumped to 24. Pet scan and Ct all negative. It has now increased to 31 and am having a repeat pet scan. Getting vaccines can increase it, also if you have covid.

Any inflammation (even mild enough that you don't notice it) can cause a rise in CA125. 22 is still well within normal range. Caelyx can definitely cause CA125 to rise before it falls, and I believe Avastin is the same. If your team are not worried, you shouldn't be either!
