Just had phone call with results of scan I had yesterday not good news masses have grown does this mean that niraparib isn’t working waiting for oncologist to get back to me now feel sick with worry xx

Sorry that you have this worry polo2014. Do you have any symptoms? I had a bad scan about 3 years after first line but was fine for another 18 months and I know someone for whom the Parpi is partially working…so she’s had some radio therapy on the side. So, even if this is new, it may not be the whole story xx

I really sympathise with you. It is a ghastly worry. I am on niraparib too and it has given me wonderful hope, but last scan showed slight progression of cancer and they scan again in January to decide if it is working or if they will stop giving me it and consider more chemo. Trying to block it out of my mind until after Christmas and just enjoy time with the family. But it is not easy and the worry is always there even if you don't let loved ones know. This is the most hateful disease. Sending love, prayers and all best wishes x

Thanx for your reply I got scan results yesterday there has been progression they phoned to tell me and said someone would be in touch today but no one has .it’s the waiting that’s the worst for me I get so nervous xx

I do sympathise, as I am at the same stage as you. Rucaparib didn't work for me, and a scan showed patches on my lungs. I am going to have a scan in February, then we will decide what chemo to try next.

I’ve been on Avastin since my chemo ended in mid September. My ca125 has gone up steadily since then. I’m getting my scan next week to determine whether I will be getting more chemo. We’ll see what these oncologists have in their bag of tricks for us. Hang in there and try to enjoy this holiday season.

Your oncologist wil have advice for you. I was on Niraparib as well. Ca125 increased and scan showed some increase in disease. My oncologist took me off it and I am now on chemo and Avastin. Marker is now going down and last scan showed no increase. Although I am tired of chemo, if it is working it is worth persevering. Sorry about the long reply, but I wanted to say keep positive, listen to the doctors and there are many choices they can make.
