My mother was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer stage 4 at Christmas. She started chemotherapy and then they tried to operate and couldn’t . She’s back to her chemotherapy and after that she is to start on Olaparib. It has been a rollercoaster of emotions to see my mum going through all of this .
I don’t know anyone else that has been through this, so looking for some support and if anyone else is taking this drug to help

Hi there sorry to hear about your mum. I too have stage 4 mine is terminal . I had Olaparib last year but unfortunately it didn’t work for me . I seem to be one of the ladies that cancer pills do t work on so as a last resort for me I am having more chemo. It’s been 5 1/2 years fighting and I am going to continue.
Sorry to hear about your mum. I was diagnosed almost 4 years ago now.Went through all of the chemo etc.Now I'm taking Olaparib which I started 14 months ago.I have been very lucky and experienced no side effects at all.Just a blood test once a month at the GPs followed by phone call from oncologist.I do hope your mum is successful on this drug x

Thank you very much for your question. Here is some information about dendritic cell vaccines taken from the Cancer Research UK website: cancerresearchuk.org/about-... . If this is something that you would like to know more about, you can speak to your clinical team who will be able to advise if this would be suitable option for your individual situation.

I believe I did participate in this study here in the United States at Scripps San Diego/MD Anderson. They did harvest part of the tumor used it to create the vaccine as well as went through Pharisees a 6 hour procedure to harvest those cells. I had 8 shots but cancer came back with in 1 year after chemo. Not a great result for me......unfortunately. Do you know if they would consider anyone from the United States in a study? Or do I need to contact them directly to find out? Thank you for your time
Thank you for your reply. I’m really sorry to hear about your recurrence. The Cancer Research UK link included by my colleague Cathryn provides general information about vaccines to treat cancer. Are you referring to a specific trial or study that you would like more information on?
Your clinical team would be able to advise regarding potential trials particular to your own unique circumstances.
Please let us know if you would like to discuss this further.
I'm sorry for what your are going through. My mum was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in June 2016. Today she has found out her CA125 levels have jumped from 200 in June to 2160, which is the highest ever since she was first diagnosed. It's a rollercoaster. I just don't know what this figure could mean - does anyone have any idea what this could indicate?
