Dizziness on chemo?

Hello, has anyone experienced dizziness on carbo/taxol? Mum keeps feeling very faint and dizzy all the time, I’m wondering if this is a side effect of the chemo and if so if there’s anything we can do to help? Many thanks x

Hi Suzie , sorry to hear your Mother is having dizzy moments . I did . I found if i drank more fluids and some sugar food helped . Although check her sugar levels . You can get a glucose machine from chemists . I developed diabetes whilst on chemo , steroids apparently!!. Easy to live with so no panic . But yours sounds more fluids may help . Good luck x

I used to get dizzy and faint for three to four days on Taxol, and Carbo , remember struggling to get my teeth cleaned before I had to lie down again, I drank lots of water about 3 litres a day , it got better when the oncologist reduced the dose for other reasons .xxCheryl.

Hu Suzie. Dehydration can caused blood pressure to drop and hence dizziness. Please try to get her to drink more than she thinks is enough. Its hard if tummy is upset too but it definitely helped me. Low blood pressure caused me to fall and break a leg after 1st chemo . I really don't recommend it!!x

I also suffered dizziness and a lightheaded feeling throughout my carbo/taxol treatments; not every day but it was nasty when it happened. Drinking lots and lots certainly helped. Sometimes I felt awash with weak blackcurrant juice! The dizziness did pass after a few days until the next chemo session. I don't recommend the sugary snack suggested by some but I do think a healthy snack helps, if only because you should sit down for ten minutes while you have your drink and snack. If she feels dizzy tell her to rest a while and not force herself to do what feels too much. You have to listen to your body and rest when it tells you. All best wishes to her and the hope that the dizziness reduces and then disappears (as mine did) as her treatment progresses and her body gets more used to it x

I was diagnosed stage 3 in 2013. Had a hysterectomy followed by chemo and radiation. Took taxol and Carbo. It ruined my life, but I am still here. From the time that first ounces hit my system I have never been the same.

I had every side effect possible. I was so dizzy the only way I could stay upright was to walk from the bedroom to the rest of the house was by leaning and scrapping the wall to hold me up.

🤪 I also had loose bowels for three years plus I have fallen 12 times and must now use a walker. I could only complete 4 doses before chemo induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) totally stopped my life. I had to use a wheelchair for about 6 months. I graduated to a cane but am now using a walker. With all I have survived, I have seen graduations, weddings and I have the most beautiful granddaughter. I am pretty much housebound and no longer drive. I still cherish each moment I can. I wish no one my challenges but I am here!!!
