I have stage 3 c ovarian cancer and am on 3monthly check ups now.Diagnosed Dec 2019. Have had 6 chemo and a debulking operation last June last year. Had my first check up in March and my CA had gone up from 16 to 35, so Easter Sunday had a CT scan which fortunately was still clear so for moment as I was quite poorly after first covid jab my oncologist is hoping the spike is due to that and at my next app in July it will have come back down. My daughter has just seen a two night break to Jersey in October which I'd like to book. It's reasonable & states insurance is £12. I'm in a quandary about it. Would I get insurance for a 2 day trip but would it be a horrendous price. I really don't know what to do and how I will be that far ahead. Any advice ladies would be appreciated so much. My head's in a spin about it

Hi I have regularly taken holidays (Europe and Internationally) but don't insure for my cancer just everything else. Having said that I tend to book late. It is a bit of a gamble and really depends on whether you want to pay the additional cost (try one of the companies that will insure your cancer) or whether you are willing to book without that element covered. I hope you are able to go, we could certainly all do with a break! xx Kathy xx

I would suggest contacting a specialist insurer and getting a quote for the specific dates and location...because that’s the only way to get a realistic idea of what they will charge. You can decide then if it’s worth it or if you are prepared to risk it xx

Hi. You say the holiday is reasonable with an insurance of £12. Is that for cancellation? If so and you can’t go you could claim back the cost???? You’ll know more in July. I paid over 2k for insurance for a holiday to Dubai after agonising for weeks and I was fine 🤨. I think if I was fit and well I’d risk 2 days.

Like Kathy I tend (or at least used to!) book late, and insure for everything except the cancer. If you feel fit and well, I personally would go for it and enjoy x

Try Insurancewith. Good reports on here about them

I insured for my holiday in America (2 weeks) a couple of years ago. My oncologist said that it should be a priority as medical expenses there are very high. I did it through 'Insure with.' I think it cost about £200.

My advice go on your 2 day break, l like you was quite unwell with the covid vaccine. But lve got over that l had my debulking op in Oct 17 was told l was absolutely clear . But that wasn't the case unfortunately , l was checked throughout 2018 and my CA 125 went into the thousands. So pet scan early 2019 and told l needed a biopsy on lymph node in the bowel which was cancerous it was then l was told that l had incurable ovarian cancer which was more than a shock .l had no symptoms whatsoever thats the frightening part about it to me. So l started chemo 6 sessions 9hrs each grueling

but very effective thankfully. But throughout my treatments we've gone on holiday to Tenerife in fact we got stuck there last year in lockdown so was a bit concerned to say the least. Did a 5 day cruise 3 wks after my de bulking op. I posted the other week that l get insurance with Nationwide flexi account find it excellent and gives me peace of mind but l did have it before l had cancer so l know that makes a difference l also have a managed Brain tumour sound like a walking disaster lm anything but, but l live for today and hopefully tomorrow . But l make the most of each day

at the moment l do have problems with my bowels but hopefully that will soon be sorted,

Try and not worry too much your hardly likely to be ill for a 2 day break go and enjoy yourself try and not let this horrid cancer restrict you if you can there are several insurance companys out there that do insurance for cancer. But l think if your ok up to holiday its unlikely you'll be any different on your very short break. Lifes for living and l do that every day enjoy every moment if you can. Worry l find can make you ill and lve done enough of that. Sending positivity love & hugs SheilaFxxx
