Surgery possibly going ahead,

Seen surgeon today, he's willing to operate if anaesthetist is happy that Im fit enough. Been through 12 cycles of chemo in two lots, told inoperable previously!

This will be palliative surgery to hopefully keep me free from symptoms for longer

Im still a bit wobbly about this, as I live alone , and the thought of being "off my legs"is daunting as Im extremely independent normally. Came home with head spinning only to find dear dog had pooed indoors Extremely rare occurrence so she is probably a bit stressed too!

That’s good news! I know you are a bit worried about the immediate aftermath but they won’t let you home unless you have support in place... whether that’s district nurses or home help.

I was up and walking the next day.. so you may find it easier than you think. I am pleased that you are finally getting it! Best of luck xx

That's good news. I'd ring Macmillan or speak to your oncologist to see what help can be put in place. When I had my op some while back there was a lady in the next bed who lived alone and they were putting help in place so its something that can be arranged. I hope you get this resolved. Do let us know how you get on. Big Hug. Kathy xx

That is such positive news. I know that a few months ago, you thought that you were getting to the end of treatment. Having an op is always a worry but hopefully it will not be as bad as you fear.

Hey rosebine

Wishing you well... get up and moving as soon as you can would be good...advice a nurse gave me at the preparation stage ...do not look down when they start to stand u upright normally within 24hrs or so after the op look ahead and trust the nursing team help you ... and the 3 P' s..passing wind, peeing, and yes pooing will help you on route to your recovery.....my dog was my main nurse at home the aftercare from her and my concerns about her helped pull me through some of the darkest moments, give you dog hugs and talks, I sure did i told mine I am coming back for you.

Thanks all. Dithering a bit now as a couple of people have said to me if its not going to be a cure why put yourself through all that for possibly a few months, and they do have a point.

They say that to all of us Rose, we just have to plod on and hope for long periods of no treatment needed. Ask Katmal (Kathy) she was probably told the same 10/12 years ago. She'll give you such hope.

All is not lost

Hi I try to think along the lines of 'possibly' being good enough for me to put up with anything so I'll never be left thinking 'I wonder if I had have done A B or C would it have made a difference?' It is such a personal decision. Please remember the support is here whatever you decide to do.xx

Ahhh see i never asked people or googled when I had the diagnosis.. but someone on here and I do apologises for not remembering their name summed it up on something they received ..the fates said to the warrior you cannot withstand the storm and the warrior replied I can I am the Storm .... good way to fight and stand your ground when the time comes to make choices you and I will do so but it will be on our terms not anyone else's or this diseases terms that's for sure 😁

I love this, so wise❤️

This sounds really hopeful Rose,

All the best for a full recovery. I hope the district nurses will help you when you get home.

Hi. The fact that you are now operable shows that you have exceeded the docs’ original expectations. If you have doubts ask to discuss in detail the pros and cons. Personally I would take surgery over chemo any day. Good luck!

Hi,

I'd have the surgery. The surgeon is not God. He can't tell you what's going to happen after the op.

The best results on OC come via surgery, whatever it is called. It could give you years of life, how many nobody knows.

Going through surgery is tough, it will take you time to recover, so please make sure you have lots of help. Can a friend take care of your dog? Or can someone move in with you for a while to help out?

I wish you luck & strength and years of health.

Vxxx

No one to move i n sadly, but they would be sleeping on the floor if they did !

Im trying to organise as much as I can, but friends who would normally be able to help are shielding !
