In 2016 I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and had to have extensive radical hysterectomy that also involved the removing of part of the omentum. I was wondering if anyone else feels strange sensations in the stomach area after their omentum removal? I constantly feel a fluttering sensation. Also, does anyone else’s abdominal area feel very heavy? Thanks so much for your answers!
Yes mine does. Feels very heavy like it’s constantly pulling down. I also had a stoma and reversal and can feel ‘things’ making their way through. I get a lot of stomach pains as well if I eat foods that are hard to digest.
Yes I know what you mean,I had my op last July,I get those fluttery funny feelings that come and go on the sides of my tummy. My oncologist said they are probably caused by adhesions and how everything is healing together.
Yes, I do. I had full hysterectomy and omentum removed in 2017. I also have a stoma. I still get fluttery feelings and I often feel food moving through the gut. My stomach also feels heavier and I sometimes get a dragging feeling.I think it is because the muscles aren't now as strong and our organs have been moved and pushed about. I also wander how and where our organs have settled once so much has has been removed. I can mostly ignore this now and seem to be coping. Jackie
Hi. Me too. I’m much more aware of food/stool/gas passing through my digestive tract. I also need plenty of high-fibre food and a probiotic or bit of kefir to make sure everything works reasonably well. Oh, and I get loads of gas - luckily odourless (tmi?) - so my tummy is still a bit distended more often than not.I did go to a cranial osteopath (they have extra training after qualifying) after my op. She was great and got my system moving after it had pretty much stopped with the shock of all the treatment. I’m hoping she can help encourage all the organs to settle down and minimise future adhesions.
Yes, i get abdominal discomfort through the night and very early mornings which wake me up, i also think this is food moving through the system? Ive reported it to drs many times since debulking surgery (March 2020) and no reason has been given, only analgesia suggested which Ive declined. Am taking Aloe Vera with Heem each morning and Molkosan ( fermented whey) and it seems to be helping the passage through the gut!
I do for sure. In addition to what everyone else said, I also notice I feel like my insides feel stretched tighter after I eat, which is painful. Not the pre-cancer diagnosis feeling of being full really fast, just that things are pulled tighter. That keeps me from eating a lot a once (which used to be my specialty so my meals are smaller and more frequent. Lots of fluttery butterfly sensations too, and a "heaviness" on the sides sometimes. I'm 9 months out of chemo and 3 clear CT scans so far, so I believe it's all still residual post surgical healing. Add to the list of 1,000 things we all deal with after surgery and chemo and treatment.
I had debulking in June 2020. During and after the post surgery chemo, I often feel a slow crawling sensation in my left abdominal area. It feels like a baby inside moving its foot or hand. It feels creepy but my oncologist says he believes it is muscular. I guess I can expect to feel strange inside considering that so much has been removed (including omemtum). Plus there are all those titanium clips holding things in place inside. I’m just glad that what I call the “stabbies” in my abdomen have improved so much. You’re certainly not alone with these strange sensations. Hope yours improve. Best wishes from Louisiana,
Yes. I had mine removed last October 2020 and I can feel my intestines moving around and have a heavy sensation also. It is very disturbing and it is wearing my mood down. If this is permanent I hope that I can learn to life with it psychologically.
Hi everyone, I'm new here and am currently recovering from my debagging operation in May. Disappointed to hear that these unpleasant sensations are ongoing along with the constipation as was really hoping they would recede as healing increased. Wondering if anyone has found ways of dealing / minimising these symptoms?
