Covid Vaccination: implications for cancer patients - any research?

Is anyone aware of research on the affects of Covid vaccines on clinically vulnerable patients, or more specifically, cancer patients? Maybe it's too early for any data to be available, but I just wondered. Thanks x

The vaccine is not live and therefore, as I understand it, very unlikely to cause any problems... it can’t give you the virus. I have been told to have it done while on chemo. It will stop me becoming seriously ill should I catch C19 and will help protect the NHS and eventually the community as more of us are done xx

Thanks, that's helpful to know that it's seen as preferable, even during chemo. xx

My mum had her vaccine last Friday. Her oncology team told her to have it whilst she is on her week off drugs. She did feel a tad lousy after, a temp of over 38 and felt a bit sick but that lasted maybe 12 hours. Is absolutely fine now.

Thanks, that sounds like a reassuringly small price to pay. x

I am taking a PARP inhibitor and was advised by oncology team it is better to have jab than to get Covid. I am looking forward to getting my phone call soon. Good luck with the vaccine. x

Thanks, good to know xx

I was assured the vaccine didn't have any adverse effects on cancer or chemo patients by articles I'd read in the papers and Facebook. I feel so much less pressure since I had mine over a week ago. The relief is huge. No side effects. So have no fear. The oncologist or CSN will advise you if you're not sure. all the best Riverflo
