Ovary and pelvic pain but ultrasound results were ‘normal’

I’ve been having symptoms for a while now and my abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound was apparently ‘normal’. I’ve had severe pain during sex for a year now and some bleeding after sex, abdominal pain, and pain in my ovaries every day for about 9 months which has gradually got worse! I am in so much pain now and I was so shocked to find out my ultrasound was normal. I’ve been passed around from doctor to nurse to gynaecologist for years. I was diagnosed with PID 2 years ago and antibiotics helped. I’m on the pill and I’ve been on it for almost 6 years so I don’t know what my natural periods are like. I am 23. I’m not pregnant and have no STDs. I’m really worried and I’m sure something is wrong but I can’t figure out what!! And neither can the doctors! What do I do now 😔 please help

Have you had any blood tests? It would be worth asking your doctor for a CA125 test. I had ultrasounds that showed nothing, but a blood test showed elevated CA125 (though that alone isn't a reliable marker for all women). I had a vaginal biopsy that also came back clear. A CT scan showed more suspicious results, but one biopsy of my omentum showed nothing. However the consultant requested a second and that confirmed OC in the omentum, which meant it had already progressed outside the ovaries, and turned out to be Stage 3c. That was all in the space of two months, after several months of being passed from pillar to post. You know your own body and when things aren't right, so keep pressing for further investigations. Hope you get a diagnosis, and it turns out to be something that can be sorted. Many GPs are quite ignorant of OC, and don't believe it can happen to younger women. All the very best x

It could be anything. My cancer didn't show on the abdominal and transvaginal ultrasound. To eliminate the worst and to have the peace of mind, ask for CA 125 and a Thorax and abdominal CT scan and let's hope for normal findings ie anything that is benign.
