Help and advice regarding management of surgical menopause at 27 years old?

Hiya, I'm 27 years old, just been diagnosed with early stage uterine cancer and as it's estrogen positive, I will be unable to commence hormone replacement therapy after my hysterectomy (inc. uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes and removal of both ovaries). Any advice and help on how to mentally prepare myself to wake up menopausal and manage my symptoms would be amazing! Thank you x

Hi there,

Aww sorry to hear what your going through atm.I had a full hysterectomy in July this year and went into surgical menopause,I'm 41.The only symptom I have really noticed is hot flushes, which aren't very nice tbh,but what I have found works well is cbd oil.I take an organic 25% oil and although it hasn t got rid of them completely,I definetly dont get as many.Have also heard that a sage supplement can help.

Best of luck for your surgery x

Hello

I dont know if i can help very much. Having a hysterectomy eight weeks ago and intially was on HRT however once the histology was undertaken ovarian cancer was found.

I have started taking sage supplements i have not seen much improvement but it is early days. Be careful of having supplements with plant oestrogen like chemicals red clover amongst others. You may need to speak your doctor.

Hiya, I had broadly what you had 2 years ago, so what you need is the good news - which I never really realised before I went through it all. Firstly no more periods - fab! secondly, I'd always suffered with awful PMT - headaches, bad skin, low mood and now that is all gone. I do have a shorter temper than before but I honestly couldn't believe how much better I felt without all my mad hormones gone. There are downsides - I have osteopeania so insist on bone scans, get one now so you have a baseline and push for one a year to make sure you're not developing osteoporosis, running is the best thing for keeping your bones strong. I felt less able to cope with the complexities of life, so I'd recommend trying to keep life simple for a few years (workwise). I was offered some antidepressants which I'd never taken before, they helped at the beginning but I stopped as they were stopping me sleeping well. Good luck, and I can honestly say its not as bad as what I thought when I'd read about surgical menopause being much worse than normal menopause. XX
