Unconditional Love of Mandy and Emi

We have 5 Shelties (all Recues) at our house. The last 6 months have been very rough for me. Mandy and Emi (15 yrs old) have sensed my feelings and have been by my side where ever I am.....sleeping beside my bed. The comfort and companion ship they have given me far out weights the "possibility" of getting something from them, which we have never had happen. Stay clean, wash your hands and love on those precious babies.

5 wow! Thats alot of grooming! You do not see many shelties around now.I definetly think animals can sense when we are not ourselves or things arent right, they know. They offer unconditional love and make us feel more calm and relaxed when we are with them.

Take care.

Yes, that is a lot of grooming and they know when they are clean and pretty. My daughter does most of it. I am very blessed to have her help

It is amazing how our fur babies know that we are not well. After 6 days in hospital after "debulking' of my tumour, I thought my little Tibetan Spaniel would go crazy with happiness to see me. Nope - she just ignored me and sulked. I assume that she had grown closer to my husband (whom she adores), Not long after, she settled in with me and in her own quiet way showed that she had missed me. She hasn't left my side now and snuggles in wherever I am. I know some would not approve, but at night she she starts off at the end of the bed and then when the lights are out she crawls up and wriggles between the blankets to keep our feet warm . I don't think there is any risk of infection and as you say, their comfort and companionship is everything!

Greetings from Australia!!

Some of us rely on our fur babies, I have two. I take care of them and they take care of me. Unconditionally love? Hmm, yes, but also a lot of ‘cupboard love’ ie “woof! The dog treats are in THAT cupboard, human Mum!” 😁🐶🐕❤️❤️

Totally understand how you feel about your dogs. I have two labradors, aged 12 and 9, who have been watching over me during this ovarian cancer journey. I am certain they have a 6th sense and know I am not 100%. They are never far from my side and the older one insists on sitting on the couch with me at night when we are watching tv with her head on my lap. My husband has to sit on the other couch! He works long hours and when I have felt unwell it has been wonderful to have my two faithful dogs with me, so I am never lonely. There is no doubt of the unconditional love that animals can show you and they really do not expect a lot in return. The laughs and fun with these two girls and others before them has built many happy memories.

Best wishes to all from Adelaide, Australia
