Hello

The Touch of Teal team are a group of amazing women who volunteer their time to organise the annual Touch of Teal annual event (since 2010) to raise vital funds to ensure we can continue our work; our online forum, support line, support groups, website, information booklets, Zoom sessions, we don’t receive any government funding and completely rely on donations and fundraising.

This year they are organising a virtual Touch of Teal Gala on the 3 October in order to keep everyone safe. To take part you will need a device – smart phone, tablet, IPad, laptop or computer. You can dress as you like and if you prefer not to be seen you don’t have to have your video on, you will still have a great time! Let’s get together and show our support for each other. Just go to the link below to guarantee your place, we will send you the link to Zoom nearer the time.

This is a message from the Touch of Teal Team -

We urgently need your help in 2020.

One of the wonderful ways that Ovacome has raised awareness about the signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer to the medical community over the years is via Survivors Teaching Students (STS). STS takes women who have had ovarian cancer to medical schools and we share our symptoms directly with medical students and answer their questions. The feedback from the students is always incredibly positive.

Unfortunately, STS has had to stop as a result of Coronavirus.

Like many charities, Ovacome has found itself underfunded and this means that in order to do an online version of STS, there are currently insufficient funds within the charity.

This is one of the reasons why we are holding the virtual gala. It costs £33,000 to take STS online for 12 months. All funds raised by the Virtual Gala will be used to fund STS online.

STS online is vital for ensuring ovarian cancer is considered when anyone presents the signs and symptoms to a medical professional as ovarian cancer is frequently misdiagnosed delaying treatment. Most people are diagnosed at late stage when the cancer has spread and therefore harder to treat. The online interactive sessions will enable students and clinicians to ask questions and build on their understanding of the different ways ovarian cancer can present.

With that in mind, we are asking you to buy a ticket to our event on October 3rd and also to share the link far and wide to encourage your family and friends to take part.

Our online event will have all the usual Touch of Teal magic - fun, laughter, fashion shows, auction, raffle and celebrity appearances. Tickets are only £10!

There is also an opportunity to make a donation in addition to buying a ticket.

We look forward to seeing you there!

You can buy your tickets or make your donation here: ovacome.org.uk/Event/touch-...

Best wishes
