Hello everyone,
I have the unfortunate news of letting you know my mother Julia McCormack (flamingobeef18) passed away at the age of 56, on Friday the 24th of July.
She was battling stage 4 ovarian cancer for 6 and a half years. She was the happiest, strongest and kindest lady with a passion for life.
We are heartbroken but she fought every step of the way and never let her illness define her.

Dear Flamingobeef loved ones, I just loved yer mum's forum name. It made me chuckle every time I read it. Your mom wrote many insightful and compassionate thoughts here. I really enjoyed her commentary and dry sense of humor. I am truly gutted to read of her passing. Another friend has flown away. I'm grateful she fought as long and hard as she could and had you all there to love and support her. Our lives may not be as long as we expect. Love is the best lense through which to experience our time on the planet. I think your mom gave and received much love while she was here. Love does not stop. You will see her again. T

I was so very sad to hear that your beloved mum has passed away. I had the privilege of meeting Julia in a pub near Worcester in 2018 when about six of us from this group met for lunch. She was a lovely vibrant lady with a great sense of fun. Although it was the first time we’d all met, we didn’t stop chatting for three hours! I recall that she loved to travel and was telling us about a recent trip.

I am unfortunately in the same position as my mum has Low grade serious carcinoma stage 4 and the Marsden can do no more, All we can do now is love & care for her, the only difference is her age. Your mum was younger than me, I can feel your heartache. Take care xx

I am devastated to hear the news that Julia has passed away. Alongside Linda and Jo I was one of the ladies who met up in The Swan in Worcester for lunch. We all had so much to talk about - all with individual stories of our cancer, but with many other stories of our lives, families and laughs along the way.
I met up with Julia again at the QE at the start of this year - we had lengthy chats in the waiting room - she was so positive, despite what she had been through. I was full of admiration for her approach and her sense of humour, but she also made it plain that she wouldn’t suffer fools gladly and she had the courage to speak up when she felt she needed to. We exchanged emails on this forum after lockdown started - we weren’t treated in the same area of the hospital when it all changed so we didn’t meet again. When she didn’t reply to my last one, I wondered if things were ok.

So young - my age. 😢I've been on this site for around the same length of time as her, because my mum has been battling OC 3c since Dec 2013. She's currently in remission. She is 84 in Oct! So so sorry. I was also at the lunch at the Swan. Lovely lovely lady. We also met in the waiting room at Russells Hall to see the onco. We only had time for a quick chat before I was called in. We had always planned to do lunch again. Gutted.
