Feeling a bit wobbly

Hello, I'm new on here. Haven't actually been diagnosed with OC as yet but I have some of the symptoms, CA125 is raised and ultrasound showed up something suspicious. Saw consultant today and hopefully will have CT scan next week. It's all a bit scary. I had breast cancer 10 years ago but this feels worse somehow. I have good friends I can talk to but I find these sort of forums really helpful because people are going through similar things. Also wondering if anybody has experience of treatment at the RD&E hospital in Exeter? They seemed very nice when I was there today

Best wishes to you all

Amanda

Hi Amanda. I hope your fears will turn out to be unfounded but if you do end up with a diagnosis of OC this is a great forum. I’ve learned so much. I can’t help about the hospital as I am in the States. I wish you the very best luck with your scan! Take care. Xx

All the best to you

Hi Amanda, so sorry to read you are going through this, reminds me of nearly 13 years ago when I went through what you are going through now. Can I ask if you have had any genetic testing for the BRAC gene given you have already been through a diagnosis of breast cancer? It sounds like you are being looked after and once the CT Scan is done hopefully you will have answers. I cant help with information of the hospital im afraid but hopefully someone will come along to help. In the meantime, sending you a big hug and welcome to the forum. If you have any questions ask away, there is always someone here that replies xx Kathy xx

Hi Kathy, thanks for your reply. I haven't been tested for the BRAC gene. I don't have any immediate family who've had breast or ovarian cancer, so I would think unlikely I have BRAC but might be worth asking about I guess

All the best to you, Amanda

Dear Purple, I too have elevated CA125 level and elevated platelets. The ultrasound shows three cysts on my ovaries and two fibroids. My surgeon described this as “worrisome” in a woman my age (I’m 69). I have my full open cut hysterectomy and exploratory surgery in two days on Monday. I’m on pins and needles so I know how you feel. I have managed to stay upbeat throughout the day, but I have a bit of a wobble when I am in bed at night. I say a little prayer and then I watch cute hedgehog videos or ones with puppies and kittens. Pretty silly but it helps. I’m in Louisiana and I pray that we both receive the news that we want most to hear. I have been encouraged by many of the posts I have read here that I will be able to get though this and enjoy the fact that my daughter is going to stay with me for a month while I recover from surgery. I have been social distancing and so has she. She had a COVID test before she came here and thankfully, it was negative. Sending you positive energy and prayers,

Sashay
