Operation?

I am high grade stage 3-4 and have so far had 4 chemo's (carbo/taxol).with very good results. I was due for the operation this week, but due to low blood counts, it has been cancelled for the next week or so. Are there any ladies who have just had chemo only and no surgery, as this is a possibility. If there are, I would love to hear your views. Many thanks.

Hello... it is possible to do just chemo (and some are considered inoperable). However, I was told that debulking would allow my final chemos to work in an optimal way, hunting down microscopic cancer cells. I know the delay is unnerving but you can totally do this op and it will give you an advantage over the disease xx

Hi. My understanding is that optimal surgery is the best predictor of doing well with OC so if at all possible please have it!

Thanks Delia, I will probably have the op in the next week or so, if my bloods have come up enough. Not looking forward to it though. Many thanks, Jan. x.

Hi Dexta. I was diagnosed in 2017 stage 3c. Due to there being many nodules of cancer spread over various organs in addition to the main tumour, the surgeon said he was unlikely to be able to remove it all. After much deliberating and some anxiety I decided not to have the surgery.

I have been very fortunate in that the 18 weekly carbo/taxol

Had a very good response and it has been stable since. I have felt well and able to do all the normal things. I have had no further treatment but have 3 monthly sc an. s.

I have been very lucky ,but it was a very difficult decision to make and I agonized over it.

Best wishes

Anne

Anne, I really take my hat off to you. I will probably have the op next week, as my bloods are now coming back up. Have you changed your diet etc? Many thanks. Jan. x.

Hi Jan, no I haven't changed my diet, I do cook from scratch, don't eat much meat, but a fair amount of fish. otherwise I just eat ordinary food.

I hope your op goes well, I am sure it will.

Sending my very best wishes

Anne x
