Don’t think I’d go- not just disease risk but the thought of being quarantined if things got worse - I’d not enjoy my holiday x

Unfortunately only you can make this call. I am due to fly to US tomorrow & considered cancelling today. However, I am a widow, live alone with no one depending on me and my daughter, who is traveling with me to visit my other daughter, remarked I had gone through surgery & chemotherapy so should take every opportunity to enjoy special occasions. It is all up to your circumstances.

Good luck with your decision

PS - perhaps you should check the FO up to date travel advice to Tenerife - that may help you.

Sorry, I forgot to mention it in my previous post.

Xx

Thank you for that, there wasn’t anything on it today, I don’t think they’ve updated yet. I think we might still go to Tenerife but stay in a different hotel miles away from Adeje.

Your idea of a different hotel makes sense. I live in Massachusetts and we’re going to Aruba on Saturday. The Tenerife thing has really scared me. It just takes one person to cause a lockdown. I have insurance but we’ve paid a small fortune for this trip and I can’t afford to lose the money.

I’ve cancelled it, just need to claim on my inside now and wait till it’s safe to travel there, thanks for your input

I think that is a wise decision as you still have to get on a plane with people that may have come from infected area's nearby.

I know. A friends daughters teacher was sent home yesterday as unwell and had flown back from Tenerife on Monday. She was just unwell so it was a precaution by the school, I’m not saying she had the virus but you never know.

I think that you have made the right decision. You would not have relaxed on holiday knowing that there was a risk of contracting Coronavirus and the thought of isolation sounds awful. I'm sorry that you are missing out on your holiday but it just isn't worth the risk. Sending you a big virtual hug xxxxx

So hard to say, isn't it? My husband and I cancelled an 18 day Hawaiian Cruise (to be leaving on Sunday) just today. Worries over the virus primarily and being held captive on a ship if anyone even is suspected of being ill. Fears about being in California, even for just a few days prior to the sailing (with all the homeless, viruses will no doubt spread quickly) are prevalent. It seems a bit of overreaction but having had a nearly fatal double PE prior to the cancer and still having some breathing issues, 'tis better to be safe (though I'm already sorry to have canceled as this trip may have been the last time I'm well enough to do something so exotic). We'll only be able to say it was a great decision or a hasty one several weeks from today when we know more about what this virus is/does. Hopefully by canceling our plans we can all laugh about this in the months to come. Be well, everyone.

I agree and hopefully it is an overreaction and the world will be well again. I hope so. I did cancel my trip I should be on the plane now, but I can’t risk it. My hotel allowed me to transfer my dates to later in the year so I just need to claim my flights back off my insurance, hopefully they will play nice. Good luck and sending well wishes. Do lots of meditation and imagine you’re on your cruise.

I would have done the same as you.

We have been on the verge of booking a holiday for a few weeks but are not bothering now.

Perhaps we’ll be in Tenerife at the same time in a few months.
