First of all a happy new year to everyone, & may the year be as good as possible. I see my onc next week. I’ve been taking Letrozole since May 2017, & hope I can continue. I know there are drugs that can be taken with Letrozole as cancer treatment if necessary. I already take Metformin, as I’m diabetic. Does anyone take/has taken anything else? I can’t remember the names of others, & I’d like to be able to mention them in discussion. Thanks for any help. Di

Hello Di16,

As a fellow Letrozole person for around 6 months so far , I have vitamin D and calcium to counteract the osteoporosis that I’m told happens as a side effect . For this I’ve had zoledronic acid IV, once. I also have Brufen 800 for the joint aches from Letrozole , and by choice take turmeric , magnesium, selenium, vitamins ABC , and probiotics! Keep on v low sugar diet / try to have no or low dairy but lack self discipline and often go off piste !

All best wishes

Thank you for your reply. I too take Magnesium, prescribed by the onc, & try to keep to a low sugar diet. I haven’t so far started taking calcium, perhaps I should, though Idid have a bone scan a few months ago which showed that my bone density is ok so far. What I’m looking for at the moment is the names of drugs that are sometimes taken alongside Letrozole that are thought by some to be useful for anti cancer treatment. I know Metformin is one of them, & I already take that as diabetes treatment, but I can’t remember what else is sometimes taken. Di

Hi Di,

My wife has been on Letroze for 2 years. She is also on Megestrol as her cancer is progesterone receptor positive as well as estrogen.

She also takes Metformin, Statin, Calcium, Magnesium and Vitamin D.

I hope this helps,

Good luck

Hi there, I’m on as much of the How to Starve Cancer protocol as I can get from my onc but he won’t agree to the doxycycline . However I’m told you can pretend to have malaria and buy it over the counter! The others I’m on with Letrozole are Metformin, simvastatin. Berberine , turmeric, probiotics, low dose aspirin. Calcium with vit D and fenbendazole. I also drink 2 cups of green tea And of earl grey each day (decaf) and try to reduce carbs and sugar but didn’t manage over Christmas. This is also the care oncology clinic protocol and clinical trials are being carried out on it I recently found out.

My ca125 is at 9 on this combination currently (I’m a low grade serous oc stage 3a, 9 months post chemo).

It is worth getting Jane McLellands book to check out your specific cancer type on her metro map and join her Facebook page for further input.

Wishing you luck and success

Contact Care Oncology Clinic for advice with repurposing drugs. I am with them, but I would not want to issue advice which damages rather than helps.

Research, research, research!

Good luck.
