Morning ladies.

I had second Taxol on fri I felt my tummy was swollen again, they examined me and yes asites is back its just under 4weeks since last drain. The consultant thought I wouldn't need drain again I worried the chemo isn't working !! So I'm waiting for appointment hopefully this week to drain it sgain. I've had a terrible night not sure weather it's the chemo or asites been sick with no sleep.

Sorry to be so negative two and half years is catching up with me it's so relentless.

Love to all of you

Ann xx

Hi, I had to have two drains in three weeks. The last one two weeks ago. Since I have started my first course of chemo and although I can feel the fluid, I hope it may have slowed down. I was warned that I could need further drains through out my treatment and totally understand how you feel.

Hi dexta

Thanks for reply, do you feel nauseous as well before your drain and do you have to stay in over night?

Hi again, thankfully I did not feel sick but gagged a few times. But the last time I was so full, I had difficulty in eating and drinking and the uncomfortable feeling and back aching was awful. Tht time, I stayed in 1 night as the drain went in late morning and came out the next afternoon, the time before 2 nights as it was put in later. I totally understand how you feel.

Hi, I'm on Paclitaxel and carboplatiol (Taxol/Carbo) which so farI have only had one (day 11 today). I know how panicky it feels and at the moment I have no energy to walk very far, but I'm sure you will get back to how you were and myself also.

Dexta my first round of same for first reoccurrence was miserable and I was so tired and sore. I requested Physical Therapy (and dexamethozone < sp, step down) and although it was exhausting going I’m glad I did. I just finished round 6 and feel stronger and better than I did with my first round of same treatment almost 5 years ago. Just a suggestion ❤️

Thank you, at present I feel the weight in my tummy is what stopping me from walking to far, but I am keeping active in the house and up and down the stairs.

I'm so sorry about that. That stuff just stinks. Don't worry too much yet. I've had a sights and effusions off and on for a while and the cancer hasn't been coming back or progressing. the doctor really can't explain why it's there. He thinks it's just a response of the body to chemo over time

Hi Natsamb

Thank you for you reply , I hope your cancer stays away fingers crossed. I have a new sight on the surface of the liver hence the asites and starting chemo again.

My cancer marker had halved when I saw consultant and no asites it appeared again Thurs.

Anyway love to you

Hi, I'm in the same boat, 3 drains in 4 weeks! The last one being 2 weeks after starting carbo caelyx. Arghhh, does this damned disease ever give up?? I too started to panic and made myself thoroughly miserable but I've changed my mindset determined not to waste precious days with worry. I'm feeling the benefit of the drain and my chemo side effects are subsiding so today I'm going to make the most of things! I've never had to stay in, they're keen to get me home because there are lots of admissions of flu and other viruses.

Love and empathy winging their way to you. 💐😘

Hi 1916, sorry you've been feeling so down and worried. No need to apologise for feeling negative. So many well meaning people tell us to be positive and quite frankly I find it impossible. My tummy is swollen all the time. I can never tell if it's due to general immobility (I have a Neurological condition as well as stage 3c OVC) or if it's possibly ascites returning. It never seems to have gone down since my original diagnosis early 2018 when they drained 8 litres of ascites before chemo, a hysterectomy and more chemo. I'm now on my 5th cycle of carbo/caelyx after a recurrence. How can we tell if we have ascites? Tonight my tummy is tight and bloated. I see my oncologist on Thursday 16th Jan. Do I wait and see what he has to say? I don't know why the hell I'm going on about me when you're obviously feeling really bad but I don't know how we can detect ascites without seeing the oncologist or having an ultrasound before we go.

I hope by now things are better for you and the appointment went well or goes well a the case may be. Two and 1/2 yrs down the line Ann. Keep going, you can do it. Who knows when they'll find answers for us all. This disease is relentless but so are we. Try not to despair (easy to say not easy to do)

My love to you,

Angela xx

Hi Gemima.

Thanks for reply, I had drain Thurs and Fri feel relieved hope that will be ot and the chemo kicks in. I think they removed 5 half litres in the end a bit less then a month ago which was 7 litre.

It is truly awful disease to live with so unpredictable one minute your doi g fine then it can all change!!

I hope you feel better soon , my next chemo Taxol is on Fri hopefully.

Sending you love
