Joint pain on Carboplatin

Hello all

My Mum has just had dose no 3 of carboplatin. Taxol abandoned due to severe allergy. She is suffering from awful joint pain after 3 days. I have read that Claritin helps, is this true and has anyone any other suggestion?

Hello... please don’t try anything without talking to her chemo advice line. When I had excruciating pain from chemo I was prescribed heavy duty co codamol.. which worked a treat. Hope she feels better soon xx

Hi I had bad joint pain particularly in my legs after carboplatin/taxol and they told me it gets into the bone marrow and that’s why.it would go after a few days and no long term problems apart from some numbness in fingertips and toes.i didn’t take anything so can’t advise on that

Thank you for taking time to reply. She takes ibuprofen and just is resigned to it for 5 days or so. Reassuring to know no long term problems

Hi I had terrible pains while on Carboplatin/Taxol. I realised that after each round of chemo I was like this and it lasted about 5 days. I found a heat wrap round my legs really helped - although not the rest of me -As it was during summer. I have just had chemo again for the second time but this time just Carbo and I had no problems at all. Hope your Mum gets through her treatment okay.

I would see a Dr if she is in a great deal of pain.
