Hi Everyone I walked 6 miles for my local hospice on sat I couldn’t have got through my treatment without them , I made some wonderful friends and even met friends from many moons ago all in the same boat sadly and not volunteers as we all thought when we bumped into each other. One of those friends had become very poorly over the last few months and sadly passed away Monday! I’m overwhelmed with sadness, but will remember her with great fondness and happy memories. I’m so sorry to hear The sad news of Gleedy and Yoshbosh, Id met Gleedy at The Target Ovarian meet in Brighton 2017 and had had contact with Yoshbosh on here, It’s sure been a sad start to the week 😞 Has anyone heard from Juleswee ? Did she get to Glastonbury? Is she ok ? Sending love and hugs to you all Lesley x
Walk: Hi Everyone I walked 6 miles for my local... - My Ovacome
Walk
Well done for doing the walk. All in a good cause and will help your fitness too.
Well done on the walk - a great cause and way to remember those that are no longer with us - it has been a sad few months x
Well done for attending the walk, that's a real achievement! I haven't yet braved my local hospice (only diagnosed last month, so still new to all this), but following advice on here - and now inspired by your post - I'm going to see what's on offer. Xx
Well done! That’s so good. Did you get referred to your hospice? I’m not sure what the process is! I’m guessing it depends on the diagnosis and stage. I know ours does wonderful work .
No I approached them myself, had an assessment and off I went. I had 6 weeks free treatments ( I had massage ) I did gym Tuesdays , meditation Mondays, drop in art classes, Friday open space ( crafts , desert island disks) took my daughter along who has learning disabilities, It was good for her to see that hospices were not just for the dying. Acupuncture for my neuropathy, friendship group ( weekly speakers) I loved it and I’m still welcome now to drop ins . I highly recommended it and it really gave me a focus and something to look forward to. I also joined the Gynae group at my treatment hospital and attached to it was a Lynda jackson centre , where I had more free treatments, counselling, did a Hope course which was great once my treatment finished , meditation, make over class , where I went home with a huge bag full of make up and beauty products . I joined Target Ovarian went to the House of Commons, met in Brighton at the Grand had a wonderful day. I just went for it and took everything I could to help me get through, the support is there you just have to go for it. It really helped being with people who really understood what I was going through 💞💞
That sounds really helpful. I've got in touch with MacMillan and am meeting a group for a 3 hour course o taking back control of your life, and a financial advisor and a dietician. I will see what our local hospice suggests too one day. A lot of my friends are creative and alternative therapy people, but keep moving away!
Thanks for your description. Sounds like it is really doing you good xx
That's amazing, Lesley. Well done indeed . Please help me preserve a tiny bit of self esteem and tell me that the gorgeous woman in the picture is NOT you AFTER that 6 mi run, but hopefully before the exercise. ;-D .
I've not heard from Jules. Hope she's ok. xx. Maus
Congratulations on the walk , at the moment I find it difficult to walk up the stairs but hey Ho, the chemo seems to be working. CHRIS
