I'm in the middle of chemo, carboplatin, my roots are horrendous so I thinking of having my hair coloured. Anyone gone against the advice and had their hair coloured?

HI,

I'm in the same boat as you, i asked the very same question about three weeks ago.

there were vary-as answers it seems the majority say they haven't used colour while on treatment, but some have. I have been very tempted, I've managed with colour mousse on the roots and a product called WOW that is a powder you paint on your roots it all washes out. I have two chemo's left then i will definitely be tinting mine.

hope you look back my post was hair dilemma that might help you.

Kind Rgards Ann.

There are loads of off the shelf semi- permanent colours that work really well and I won’t think would interfere with carbo.

I used real bleach and couloir while in carbo/ Caelyx, but unnecessary on Carbo/ Taxol, as I lost all my hair then...

Good luck with your decision!

I think it is personal choice, but I would avoid it due to the carcinogenic chemicals in most hair tints and dyes. If you can find a vegetable or organic option it would be best for your body, and hair, right now. All the best🌹

Are you on just Carbo?

Then you should be ok with vegetable based hair colourants. Good Luck xx

When my hair grew back it was grey - ahhhh. I then had a recurrence and had to have chemo again but didn't loose my hair. Now the cycle has finished I had my hair dyed - yippee - only for a couple of my girlfriends to tell me they hadn't noticed. I couldn't believe it!!!! Moral of the story is - your hair probably doesn't look as bad as you think it does and you friends love you for who you are. (My hairdresser told me to leave colouring till after chemo and she would not use anything with bleach in it) xxxx

I’m doing dense dose carbo/taxol and am in the middle of cycle 2. I’m also cold capping. I used Clairol Natural Instincts. All good!
