I started my chemo of carboplatin only today. So I am told would not lose my hair.Is there a product out there anywhere that we can use while on chemo.I'm not into the gray, but will take that over losing it Having carbo only this time, what to expect from side effects also.I'm in pretty good shape.Walk everyday.I'm sure I will have a few days were I will have to go a bit slower.I don't know if the carbo/taxol is much of the same side effects as carbo alone. They did put me on a high does of carbo because I'm in pretty good shape and did do well with the carbo/taxol.Thanks everyone..Staying strong...LynnπŸ’™πŸ’™

I am on caelyx. I get my natural hair die from Holland & barrett. It works pretty well on my roots.

Hi Lynn I used H&B semi tint it was a vegetable dye, it lasted five weeks.

I am on Caelyx and I get my hair coloured at the hairdresser every month. She uses permanent colour because mine is otherwise all grey. I haven't had any problems with hair dye. Kim xx

I used one of the semi permanent ones that lasts for 24 washes. No problems at all though chemo nurse said it could have led to problems and suggested the Holland and Barrett natural dye next time.

I really hope chemo goes well, it took me a couple of cycles to sort out sickness (ondansetron worked for me) and I never got on top of constipation (sennacot gave best results). My nurse was very keen to work at sorting out side effects, either on the telephone help line or during clinic, so hope you get similar support. Tbh I was felt rubbish for days 3-10 but it was bearable and it passes!

Very good luck and take care xxx

I'm on carbo only but told no dyes or colour to hair until six months after treatment.

Last time I went just a few weeks and had highlights and roots with organic colour. It itched more than usual and my head was more sensitive but it was worth it to lose my dark roots lol

Hi Lynn, my hairdresser used the foils for the period i was on Carboplatin. It worked well and i did try the Daniel Field colour, but it didn't work for me. I use his shampoo and conditioner which was excellent and to be honest i still do! When my roots showed i used the root colour powder. All the best with your chemo and stay positive and strong!! Hi Lynn,

I am on weekly taxol, using the cold cap and still using my crazy colour turquoise semi permanent dye on my now grey hair πŸ˜€πŸ˜€. I have dyed my hair since I was 11 and am now 54. I have had quite a bit of chemo having had breast cancer before my ovarian but had had no adverse effects to hair dye and when I have kept my hair I have still dyed it.

Good luckπŸ˜‰

Hi Lynn

Can't comment re. the hair. I'm currently bald at present- Carbo/Taxol. Lynn - what was the high dose of Carbo you were put on, out of interest.

I'm not sure how much exactly, but she said because I handled the carbo/taxol well and I was pretty fit that she is bumping me up a notch to a higher dose of carbo.Could be because Im also on my second reocurence. I feel good on day two, but I have a feeling I will be feeling something on day 3 or 4.Hope this treatment works. Thanks for responding to me.LynnπŸ’™πŸ’™

I was on carbo only and told not to as they didn't know how they dye would react. So I had touring and bear it. I then used Daniel field dye for the first couple of months after. Side effects were bearable but do get worse the more you have. I found 5 & 6 the worse but it was just 4 days long but very long 4 days. I also found when I felt well I would do lots but the next day I would be shattered.

Hope all goes well for you. I'm now 8 years clear and grateful every day xx

That's great eight years in with carbo only. What type of cancer and grade were you. Thanks for responding to me.I'm hoping one of these treatments gets me stable a little longer than a year. But as long as there is treatment,I will fight...Best of luck to you .Keep fighting the fight.LynnπŸ’™πŸ’™

At first it was graded 1c cos it hadn't spread. I was diagnosed after I had 11cm cyst, that ruptured, removed. Had emergency hysterectomy and biopsy result came back with cancer in cyst but no where else. However after having further surgery they found small tumour on pelvic lymph nodes so graded 3c.

I feel very lucky and sometimes guilty I had it easy compared to some.

Best of luck to you stay strong. I hope your getting the support you need at this xx

Thank you all for responding to my post..I have my hairdresser looking into some of your suggestions/products.Best of luck to everyone fighting this disease.LynnπŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ˜€

Hi Lynn, looks like I'm on the same regime as you. I had Carbo/taxol for first line and have now completed 5 of 8 3-weekly carbo only treatments for second line. I am much better on the single agent carbo this time around - a little bit of hair thinning, I have a little natural hair colour returning (weird eh?), usually very tired for the first week and then back to "normal" for two weeks. I've had some low white blood counts which led to one postponement and managed to pick up shingles and a cold, but really can't complain. I'm very comfortable with this treatment, and it has produced a very rapid and significant reduction in CA125 (from 1600 at start to 25 now) and tumour size. I do hope that your treatment will suit you as well with positive results.

Best wishes Dawn
