I know every NHS is probably different but how long was it between oncologist deciding to operate and the actual operation? Mums just had last chemo (6 taxo carbo) scan on 14th then consultant appoint on 26th xx

How long before operation?
Hi MissEd
I had my debulking operation 28 days after my first chemo. Had my second chemo while still recovering in the hospital. Every schedule is different and set by your oncologist to treat the type of cancer the best way possible.
My understanding is no less than 28 days to make sure levels are up and risk of infection reduced

Agree with what the other ladies have posted - I don't know if there's a mandatory time period, but I had my surgery around 4 weeks after chemo 3, to give my body a chance to heal from chemo.
Thank you. Mum had her last chemo on 28.12.16 her scan is 14.01 then appointment with consultant on 26.01.17 so I guess the operation could be scheduled for anytime after her appointment x
For me it was about 3 weeks but I did get a cancellation. Sx
Since you have treatment I imagine you shouldnt have too long a wait, I wish you the best with your consultant and the surgery. Do come back on and ask any questions you have re surgery and we will help as much as we can from our experiences.
