Hi Lorent! I’m currently on cyclo carbo and avastin for my second recurrence! Not too bad, a bit nauseous and tired for 3-4 days, I m still able to work part time! The worst thing is that I lost my hair (80%), I was told I’ll not 😭! I’ve done 3 sessions, waiting for pet scan in June!

Hi Tina, thankyou for your reply , it doesn't sound too bad then 😱.... My oncologist mentioned no hair loss obviously this is not the case 😭😭, I have my sons wedding in August and my hair is nearly back to its original look, oh well I will have to take out the old reliable wig and dust it down ,lol.... Wishing you the greatest scan results in June ... Love, hugs & prayers

I think most of people don’t lose their hair on this combination, I hope you’ll be lucky and keep your hair for your big event! I wish you all the best! ❤️

Hi Lorent

I have no experience of that particular combination, but did have carboplatin. It made me feel very nauseous and so I had ginger everything.....including a ginger tincture which was in ice cubes in the freezer; they were really good to have. I had some mouth sores too and the stuff the hospital gave me wasn't that helpful. My dentist recommended the Listerine gum protection (the pink one?) and that worked well. It also made me very fatigued and somewhat low in mood. I suffered badly with 'chemo brain' too. The best advice i can give for that is to give in to it....rest up, watch TV 'bubblegum' and try to keep your mind occupied. Get out in the fresh air as much as possible and absorb nature, practice mindfulness and you'll get through. I didn't lose my hair with carbo and neither did my nails suffer much. My skin needed moisture and 'the cancer community' recommended the pink vaseline which worked for me too. Oh, I did get fungal nails on my feet!! Horrible.......Don't know what to suggest to try and prevent that I'm afraid....

Stay positive. We're all here for you. Eleni xx
