Hi Moira

It’s depressing when you think you will feel better and instead a different symptom pops up. This is definitely one to ask the surgeon about. I know some women have incisional hernia but if your surgery was recent it may be things settling but either way pain tells you something isn’t right. Be persistent until someone listens xx

I have asked the surgeon actually, they don’t think it is anything more than mucus from the back passage which thinks a job needs to be done, but I have a stoma now so I am not using the back passage.

Hi Moira

Have you asked about possible fluid in that area? It’s quite common after the surgery and causes discomfort. It should go away of its own accord over time but can also be drained. Mine showed up on a CT scan. Have you had a scan post op?

Hi Moira,

It could be jyust mucus and could be something to do with pelvic floor muscles.

I felt the same after my second debulking+Hipec surgery in Oct-2017. i had a temporary stoma too.

It will go away with time. Now things are much better even though i still feel heaviness and pressure when standing or walking for long. i think i have permanent damage to pelvic floor muscles from the many surgeries i had (total 6 surgeries over 7 years).

Hi Moira--I was in such horrific pain after debulking, I thought I was dying! They did take me for a scan to see what was going on (literally the day after surgery) and told me it looked great. That maybe helped but I had quite the challenge trying to smile for visitors it was so bad. I have to say the "forced" walking around the corridor of the hospital--ALL day long (with and then without catheter attached!), on and off was brutal and I didn't want to, to each time I did, the next day was that much better. Still, I think I feel pain more than others and maybe you do too. I suppose ruling out anything truly wrong is goal #1 for you but if all is well, this is just a time thing....I cannot believe I went back to feeling normal eventually--and honestly--it was about two weeks which I would have poo poo'd if anyone had told me that was possible feeling as I did (I started chemo again at the 2 week mark!). Wishing you luck getting to the bottom of it and no matter what it is, you have my sympathy!!! oxoxoxxo
