I’m after a little reassurance. I am currently having Carbo/Caelyx for first small recurrence. After the 1st cycle my CA125 went from 55.5 to 20, after the 2nd it went to 17, after 3rd it was 19, then had completely clear midway scan, but just found out that after my 4th it’s gone to 26.
Has anyone else had this kind of fluctuating on this regime?? I feel a bit crestfallen and low today 😔
I didn’t ask what my CA125 was at any stage during Carbo, Gem, Avastin for my 1st recurrence. But the chemo worked. It’s been 15 months since I finished it and all is well so far 🤞
Keep your spirits up and try not to worry about the numbers. I hope that your body is accepting the chemo, without too many side affects. I had a few blood & platelet transfusions and lots of problems with reactions to the Carbo but it worked.
Put lots of distractions in place for yourself. That’s essential. Let the oncologist worry about the treatment. Be good to yourself. Do anything nice that you’re able to do.
Thinking of you & sending hugs 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Thank you for replying Anne.
I just don’t get the trend, it doesn’t make any sense to me, it went straight down at the beginning.
I have a wisdom tooth infection but find it hard to believe that that could be the reason xx
Hi - an infection certainly can cause your ca125 to rise. Your slight increase is likely from your current dental issue. My sincere thought is when that has been treated - you will see your ca125 lower!! Blessings! Elayne
Any infection can cause our CA125 to rise so possible that your pesky tooth is at the root (sorry) of the problem.
I’m so sorry you’re having to go through all this again but you’re obviously being well monitored and it can be a bit of a watch and wait situation sometimes with the CA figures.
Hi Marian. As I said in my post my CA125 is always low but it did go up during treatment with carbo and caelyx. It started at 5 when I recurred, went to 8 after three cycles and was 10 when I finished the sixth treatment. Yet the chemo was successful. I didn’t reach ned like you but the tumor was halved after three months and then halved again after six. So I wouldn’t worry about the numbers unless there’s a big increase. 🌷🌻🌸
Hi Marion I have just had my fourth of six Carbo Caelyx for first recurrence. I don’t know my levels and I don’t want to. I have found in the past they were not reflective of what was actually happening so prefer not to know. Hope you continue to do well. X
Hi Karen. I think your approach is probably the best one. I do obsess about the CA125 number and have done since I was diagnosed in 2016, it’s caused alit if stress.
Hope you are coping well with treatment, I’m having Carbo/Caelyx and I found it tough xx
Hi Marion Just to let you know infections DEFINITELY put your CA125 up, I've just had a chest infection and mine went from 8 to 26, it's just coming down again. Really difficult not to worry with so much riding on it. Take great care and all the best, you'll be fine. Sue xx
Hi Marion, when my CA125 went up recently the nurse told me the treatment( I am on avastin) can make it fluctuate a little up & down or a kidney infection & for me not to worry, it's when it keeps going up & up & never down they investigate it. I found myself getting upset when I know it's gone up a bit ( as mine was nearly 2,500 when diagnosed) so now I have stopped asking them . It's hard to relax & forget but then it's not helping you either if you are worrying all the time & I am sure you have a good team who are keeping a good eye on you. Take care & I hope you stay well Xx
