Scar tissue and adhesions????

I have problems at the moment with my stoma which is continually backing up and blocking causing me digestive issues. I have seen the colorectal consultant and am due to have a colonoscopy in 10 days.

My stomach is bloated and I feel nauseous a lot of the time. I have had a gastographin test and it is going through so not a total blockage. I am taking laxatives the whole time to keep the stools soft so that they can go through.

My last blood test was November and my ca 125 was 11and my scan clear. I am worried it could be the cancer back. Has any one else had any other similar problems with a stoma from scar tissue and adhesions please?

As an expert on bowel blockages due to adhesions, parastomal hernia and narrowing of various bits of colon I have been hospitalised several times and tried following the low residue diet as well as taking lactulose but that seemed to bung me up then had pancaking and lots of leaks.I now haveprunesever day , morewell cooked veg and eat little and often.

I am having less problems but still have the odd week when I’m on just soup and yoghurt.

Hope this helps,Vivx

That’s me exactly. I have a parastomal hernia too. If I take lactulose it goes through but if I miss a dose get the pancaking, the leaks and not being able to eat. I was told not to eat prunes due to the skins. Think I might get some prune juice and try.

I've been having trouble over the last month with partial blockage and constapation the pain is unbearable. I have got along great for the last 2 years with my stoma and don't why it had just gone like this. I am on a weekly taxol at the moment 2nd reacurrance. I feel for you if you have to go through the pain and sickness for a couple of days. Can't offer much help I just take the softer and drinks and try as much water as possible

I’ve had my stoma for a year and a half and the first year it was fine no problems at all but it’s definiteky getting worse. I’m praying I don’t have a recurrence yet but no doubt the colonoscopy next week will throw up some answers. It’s the nausea and not been able to eat - I’ve just had another couple of days like that. Good luck with the weekly taxol hope it zaps the gremlins. X x
