hi all I am new here but would like some advice I have all the symptoms of ovarian cancer including looking like I'm 6 months pregnant , I'm 52 and normally fairly slim , I have it all including heartburn and urinary tract symptoms with no infection this ( my urine ) has been tested twice now in the past month with the same no infection , I had the results of my ca125 blood test this morning and it was normal does this mean that I don't have cancer , can you still have a negative result with it , I have a scan booked for the 10th June..... many thanks

Hi lovely, welcome to our lovely gang, we will help you any way we can. The CA125 isn’t always a good indicator of OC, you already have a scan booked so once you have the results from that you’ll know exactly what you’re dealing with. The symptoms you have can also be linked to other issues so at this stage try not to worry unnecessarily.

Please stay off Dr. Google, if you search for OC you’ll find information there that will scare you silly, the information there is often years out of date and often completely wrong so do try to avoid it. Listen to what the medical profession tells you they have a much better knowledge.

I hope your scan come back clear and you get a happy outcome, let us know how it goes and if your results are less than positive we’re all here to help you along the way with good experienced advice. Big hugs ❤️Xx Jane

Hi Ally. Good advice from Jane. Glad you’ve got a scan booked already. My CA125 was in the normal range, there was nothing showing on an ultrasound scan but a ct scan gave the docs enough evidence to arrange a hysterectomy. But and it’s a very big but, even at that point cancer isn’t diagnosed until a biopsy is analysed so, hard as it is, don’t jump to the worst conclusion at this stage. Lots of good advice from women who understand on this site if you need it and fingers crossed you don’t. With best wishes Jo 🌹🌼🌸🌻🌺

I agree with Crop Crop whole heartedly. Just wanted to add that I know that there is one form of ovarian cancer where the CA125 is not a good indicator and seems to always normal. I do not remember the name of it. Like Crop Crop said please ask your doctor about that and also about having a CT/PT scan as soon as possible. I believe I just read you have booked one. My first symptom 3 1/2 years ago was the bloated abdomen and the other symptoms you described along with a prolapsed bladder from the weight of carrying around what turned about 10 pounds of fluid and I ignored it for over a year thinking I could just do cleansings and juice fasts which made me feel better but the bloating was still there. I was ultimately diagnosed with stage 3 high grade ovarian cancer in November of 2014 for which surgery is an absolute must. Blessings to you and Crop Crop for being so thoughtful and do keep in mind that learning as much as you can is so important but from quality sources as she said and that's why its great that you have found this group so you can be pro-active and gets lots of help from everyone here. Do check out this book, entitled Keto for Cancer by Miriam Kalamian which I have just started reading as I am in my second week of the Ketogenic diet which is this authors specialty. Hope this will be helpful, as well.

Hi Ally, there's some good information about CA125 here: targetovariancancer.org.uk/...

CA125 is a useful tool which helps to play a part in diagnosis but it can give both false negative and false positive results in some circumstances. It's good that you have a scan arranged and I hope it goes well.

If you're looking for information online and have concerns about Ovarian Cancer, stick to the main charities where information is uptodate, considered and supportive. Most of these charities now have support services so you can phone etc and speak with someone with specialist knowledge.

The main UK based Ovarian Cancer charities:

Ovacome ovacome.org.uk

Target Ovarian Cancer targetovariancancer.org.uk

Eve Appeal eveappeal.org.uk

Ovarian Cancer Action ovarian.org.uk

Additionally:

Macmillan macmillan.org.uk/informatio...

Cancer Research UK cancerresearchuk.org/about-...

Best wishes, Sx

Your scan will be a better guide to whether you have cancer or not than the ca125. Although many ladies do have a raised ca125, some of us don't. I have known that I have a recurrence since last October, but my last ca125 was only 7, well within normal limits. I hope of course that you do not have oc. But if you do, feel free to keep in touch with this site for support. Di
