Hi, I had to google hipec surgery as not heard of it: this is what it told me:- Hyperthermic (or Heated) Intraoperative Peritoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) is used to treat cancers that have spread to the lining of the abdominal cavity, such as those of the appendix, colon, stomach, and ovaries. HIPEC is an alternative, innovative method of delivering chemotherapy.

I hope someone from all of us around the world can help, as I'm sorry, I haven't come into contact with any patient who has experienced it.

Good luck with finding someone and with the treatment.

I’ve met 2 ladies who had HIPEC 1 NED 4 1/2 years the other 7, from what I’ve read it’s very good, it’s not done often in UK as it’s very expensive, wish you all the best 💞

Hello again! Just as I wizzed off my reply, I noticed there are related posts at the tip right-hand side of your letter. These may help. Lesley

Hi Bunnyone,

I'm sorry, I don't know if anyone who has had this surgery.

All the best with your treatment.

Love Wendy xx

Hi Bunnyone,

HIPEC surgery isn’t that common for OC in the U.K., where the majority of the forum members live. It is used in some centres, but not many, and is used in other cancers, but not ovarian. A friend of mine had it for bowel cancer.

Good luck with your consultation and let us know how you get on.

Hi my sister had HIPEC during her debulking surgery. It was administered through a pump into the abdominal area and her abdomen was swishes around for 60 to 90 minutes then all flushed out. She was under during the process and did well. This was done in the states. We were thrilled and say yes do it if you can.

Hope this helps.

Wishing you all the best

Nancy

Hi... Hipec is a procedure done soon after (immediately) debulking (cytoreduction) wherein heated chemotherapy drugs/s are introduced into the abdominal area as a precursor to the chemo regimen to follow (normally 21 days after). There are two schools of thought that support it (for and against). My wife underwent Hipec alongwith her debulking in Dec 2015 for PPC followed by the usual chemo regimen, and she is doing well enough so far, albeit with a minor aberration for which she is being treated by oral chemo.

I have just had HIPEC surgery for a recurrence . The surgery was tough but I’m doing well post operatively. I’m glad I had it as it seems to be showing promising results in research . Best of luck. D
