So fed up its been almost 3 weeks since I saw consultant had biopsy of womb lineing ,3 blood tests, examinations I was told they'd get back to me re I'll get a letter but nothing so far,I rang the secatary she said bear with us,but why can't they just let me know what's happening if anything.I was going to call again but bottled it didn't want to pester I'm assumsing I'm fine but if I am why can't they just let me know that.
The minute you decide to take over your own health care, you’ll get results and you’ll feel more involved and in control. You just need to keep ringing or contacting them. It’s a very ‘British’ thing we do in not wanting to bother people! I was the same until I learned quickly that I needed to know and not wait for ages.
Develop s good relationship with your CNS or consultant if you can? If you become a team together, it’s teally powerful. Email is great too. They’ll often respond faster.
If you truly are getting fed up, change Doctors. You need to click with them.
I know it’s hard but there are protocols around giving information especially diagnosis information...partly because hospitals can face legal action if mistakes are made.
Departments are under so much pressure too...I know that doesn’t help when you are the one on the end of the phone!
Have you got a CNS you can be in touch with? Or cancer support at the hospital? They can sometimes help if you explain how difficult you are finding the waiting xx
No no one I was just told to go home wait ect, theyres a part of me just thinks sod it I can't be bothered with any of it its too stress inducing but I just think how long does it take to let you know blood test results and if you require any further intervention. I will keep ringing every week till I get answers.
Hi Polly, You should not have to Waite that long as Lyndy said could you get your GP or a cancer support nurse to ring on your behalf , Take care Love Lorraine xx
Sorry to hear you had to wait that long. I hope the reason they’re not acting urgently is because the results are nothing to cause you any worry. I know that doesn’t help but you would think if it’s something’s bad, they will call you in sooner than later.
Hope you hear soon. Hugs Lena xx
That's what I think but until its confirmed, and with him saying its not gynea its bowel related I just have a nagging voice in the back of my mind,I rung go they said they don't get results due to consultant requesting tests no idea if that's right or not I'll ring gp today.
Hi Polly. Keep ringing the buggers until you get some info. It's just not good enough.
Pauline.

That's what I think but you feel like a pest ,but you think its my health I want to blooming know crack my mission to ring ever Tuesday till I get some answers and info
You aren’t a pest at all. You are a patient who needs help.
Thanks ,it helps just to vent on here I've not let on to my husband that I'm still fretting and stuff .I've lost 6 pound in weight but that's due to me removeing rubbish from my diet has I try to help the bowel...so a silver lineing of sorts..
I'm a wuss so I'm going to ring Sunday when I know it'll be the answer machine and I can leave a message, cop out I know but I can't face speaking to the secatary againe.
Poly, have you got someone other than your husband, who can advocate for you? Sometimes it’s much easier to “act” on someone else’s behalf than it is your own as you end up feeling you are being a nuisance. If not, pretend in your mind that patient is your child and you are the concerned mother and act as if you were. You’d unlikely under those circumstances to ring on a Sunday so you can get an answer machine.
No no advocate and I'm based in Huddersfield was seen at Halifax don't think it would be appropriate to name the consultant but he was a general gynea even though another consultant who works there was a gynea oncologist.I've wussed out rung today said look regardless of results being good or bad I want to know them, its been 3 weeks now and I'd like to know what if anything happens next so could **** please sort out the letter to me.
