As most of you know I have had my ovaries removed 4 weeks ago.. I'm still waiting for a form of HRT... I officially hate the menopause!!!!!!
My GP and consultant can't come to a decision on what contraction pill will be the best form of HRT for me as I suffer from migraines where I loose part of my vision..
I'm finding myself feeling really low and tired as I'm not getting a full nights sleep due to night sweats I seem to be able to cope with them in the day but when it comes to bedtime I'm sure they get worse..

There are some people that recommend a lady magnet I am sure they will come on to say about this soon, another thing is a chillow pillow that keeps your head cool at night.
I bought a silk cover from Laura Ashley which was lovely and cool for those hot sweaty moments and not as chilly as throwing off the covers altogether.
It is a strange feeling. Might be helpful to keep a damp facecloth by the bed too. Some advise an atomiser with fresh water.
It does pass and perhaps your doctors can recommend something to help.
Hi Belle. I never thought about that!! I havent been able to go on the pill for years because i too suffer with migraines. So when i have my remaining ovary out i may have the same problem. Hope they sort it soon for you, I had night sweats for a while after having first ovary out, very unpleasant.
Funny you should say that Louise. I started suffering migraines regularly from the age of 12. I was on the pill briefly but began to have daily migraines and rising blood pressure so soon came off it. They began to slacken off in my forties but after the hysterectomy and chemo they did come very frequently for several months. However, I haven't had one for over a year. I'm careful not to spend too much time in front of computer screens and flashing lights as that sometimes brings it on.
I was on the pill a few years ago and I found a pill that suited me, but that pill doesn't have the right amount of yest in it? To replace the hormones I have lost.. But then the one the hospital have said for me to go on my GP don't agree as the has too much yest in it? Which will bring on migraines.. And I didn't no that migraine can cause strokes!!!!!! They are now trying to get in contact with a HRT consultant to try are work something out for me,

Sorry that you are going through this.....I would chase them up , call the person you last spoke to and say that you are desperate. If one type causes a migraine then you can always stop and try another.
Hi Belle! Sorry you're having the sweats...they are horrible, I know from experience. I use a Ladycare Magnet during the day, it seems to work through the night too. I can definitely feel a difference when I don't wear it through the day. I also get migraines, have had them since the age of 12 but they got worse after I went on the pill. I now have come off HRT but I had implants for a couple of yrs, they had a small amount of testosterone in them and they cured my migraines completely. However I get migraines again now the implants have worn off and I no longer take HRT. I manage them with clonidine daily and triptans when I get one coming on. The clonidine also helps the hot flushes.
Hope this info nay help what you can suggest to your med team. It's horrible to have to put up with the night sweats.
Hi Karen. It's called 'Ladycare Magnet' from larger branches of Boots, or online via Boots I would guess, or Waitrose used to stock them I believe. They were £19.99 when I bought mine a couple of years ago. You put them against your tummy, with one part inside your knickers and the smaller piece on the outside of your knickers. I found it had an almost immediate effect on my hot flushes. I still get them, but not so badly. I also take soya isoflavones, but you need to check with your oncologist in case you've had an oestrogen linked illness. I hope the magnet will help, the flushes are miserable aren't they?

Hi there... I'm sorry you're having a bad time with sweats. I had a hysterectomy at 39 and was glad of it despite being upset about the last chance of a family going with it all. However, I can honestly say that I felt much better afterwards because it was a relief and I didn't get menopausal symptoms at all. I was told by my doctor that having a hysterectomy means that the menopause is over and once things get back to normal, there wouldn't be any need for anything in the form of replacement. I get sweats more nice since having this disease. I had a heal test some time back and my bone density was above normal which I was pleased about. I'm not sure of whether I was given the right advice or not but I do hope things get a little better for you. Love Tina x x
Bless you Belle, horrible isn't it? And you are too young to be going through this I am so sorry. No advice you haven't already been given but sometimes it helps to know you are not alone. xxx
Hi Belle
Sorry you are still suffering -- each of us seems to find our balance of "keep cool and cope"mechanisms, and you will too. I keep coming across ideas online - ideas like wrapping a picnic ice pack as a reverse hottie for bedtime, filling freezer bags with antibacterial hand gel and freezing it as a DIY version (double freezer bag it in case of leaks) or freezing a wet sponge (double bag again!!).
I am a water spray plus fan by the bed person, as it makes the fan feel freezing. I also doing that having a sarong by the bed is a good alternative to the sheet when hitting up -I then just repull the duvet over when I need to. This stops me feeling uncovered, but are much thinner than sheet cotton.
