ICON9 Trial

Anyone here going for this? I think it has only just opened but I understand that I might be eligible as on first recurrence xx

Hi Lyndy I did the icon6 trial which was cederanib and I know this is cederanib and Olaparib. Im now on Solo2 which is Olaparib which tbh is (touch wood) working well. Both drugs are equally doable in terms of side effects, obviously not sure how they would be combined. I had a lot of Bowel issues on cederanib, still get them on Olaparib but not as intense (message me if you want more details, too personal to put on post) . I hope you consider trying to take part and it works for you. Kathy xx

Ahh...thanks Kathy. I was interested because it seems a good way to get on to a Parp before standard third line olaparib. Hoping that my team will finally have a plan after I get scanned on 10th ...fingers crossed xx

Hi Lyndy,

My oncologist has said that I may be eligible for the Icon 9 trial once I’ve finished 4 doses of my second line chemo - Carbo/Caelyx. It depends upon my response to the chemo - judgement is made through both imaging and CA125 reduction. I’m seeing my team tomorrow to see if the chemo is working - I had a scan last week, so fingers crossed it has had some effect. This is the criteria from the website (I just searched for Icon 9):

“Key inclusion/exclusion criteria:

Patients must have a histologically proven diagnosis of high grade serous or endometrioid carcinoma of the ovary, fallopian tube or peritoneum, progressing more than 6 months after day 1 of the last cycle of first-line platinum-based chemotherapy and requiring treatment with second-line platinum-based chemotherapy. All patients must have completed a minimum of 4 cycles of platinum-based chemotherapy for first relapse (2nd line treatment) with at least a partial response on imaging (CT or MRI) by RECIST 1.1 if measureable disease or CA125 response by GCIG criteria if non-measurable disease.

Patients with non-epithelial ovarian cancer, carcinosarcoma and mucinous carcinomas or ovarian clear-cell carcinoma and evidence of severe or uncontrolled cardiac disease are not eligible.”

Apparently if I can’t get on the Icon9 trial then I may be eligible for Niraparib via the Cancer Drugs Fund.

I'm being considered for ICON9. I will be put forward if it's shown that I've have had a good response after dose 4 of the 3rd line carbo/taxol that I'm currently on.

We could be trial buddies.

I did the ICON8 trial in 2014 which was the regular carbo taxol combo but it’s delivery methodology was the trial part. The upside to joining a trial is that you’re monitored much more closely which, in my opinion, can only be a good thing. I hope that, if you want to take part, that you’re eligible and get the best results possible.

Hi Lyndy. I am in Sydney, Australia and have been tracking ICON9 for a few months now. It's coming out of London and I talked with them back in May just before I started chemo again for 1st recurrence. It hadn't started then. I researched the previous results for ICON trials a bit and saw that women on both drugs arm had better results than just 1 drug arm but worse side effects. Anywayit is blind trial and random. But the parp inhibitor alone also had ok results. Also better results for BRAC1 and 2 women than non genetic like me. I hope I remembered that all correctly! We can't go on it if we have started chemo etc again for eg. 1st recurrence, which I had to and am finishing, currently in remission in 3 weeks.

If I recur again after 6 etc months, my oncologist said I am eligible and she is part of, or running trial here. It's also about 45 mins from home which is amazing. So, of course I am hoping I may get a year's remission or more, but who know's? If not, I will seriously consider this, if places still open. You may want to look up the previous ICON trial results on Google. Hugs from Oz.

Hello Lyndy

I'm on my 2nd lot of chemo(carboplatin /caelyx) and have just signed up for ICON9. Ca125 leveled off after 2 sessions and hoping next time for a drop, along with ct scan results. If all goes well I will be starting treatment March 19. I was told I would lose my hair again but luckily I haven't. To me this seems to be the best step forward
