Weekly taxol

Has anyone had any success with weekly taxol. I have just finished the Pissaro trial at the Royal Marsden and my scan at the end showed although the disease was stable there was some evidence of minute growth 1 or 2 mm so my next option would be weekly taxol. I wondered if anyone had had this with any success ?

Hi Carpag,

No feedback on weekly taxol, but this is where I’m heading too.

How did you find the Pissarro trial? It’s one I was considering last year, but I wasn’t eligible due to poor liver function. Looked quite labour intensive.

Good luck,

Yes it was quite arduous.Chemo for 4

consecutive days once every 28 days of at least 6 hours a day. Trial drug for 3 days and trial drug plus carbo/Caelyx on 4th day. Side effects were not too bad, worst thing being constipation much like other chemo so. CA125 went from 1200 to 25 so some success..Unfortunately despite initial shrinkage after finall CT scan I was told there was very slight growth -1-2 mm. Now have to wait 2 months for further scan unless symptoms arise. The next step would be weekly taxol I was told which was why I wondered how other people had got on

I had weekly carbo/taxol and went into remission for 20 months.

I'm starting cycle 3 of this (5th line). Pretty tolerable. Not got the latest result, but after cycle 1, my CA125 halved. Which has encouraged my to put up with bowel related problems ( not everyone gets these).

Hi, I had 18 weeks of Taxol. Found the first 14 weeks quite manageable but struggled with extreme fatigue on the remaining cycles.

Had good success with it and went two years without any treatment.

So wishing you well for the future. Xx

I had weekly taxol in 2014 in the ICON8 trial, it’s not a particularly difficult regime with very few side effects for me but I had it with carbo every third week so can’t really say if it was the taxol alone that did the trick but I’m still NED so something worked. Hope it does it’s job for you, it’s looking like weekly taxol is becoming the way forward as it’s not as harsh in a smaller dose and kinder to the patient so that’s an up side I think? I know not everybody can tolerate it but the reduced doseage is thought to help. Let us know how you get on with it.

Good luck ❤️Xx Jane

I finished weekly taxol in March this year. I found it very tolerable apart from nail problems although towards the end I was quite tired. My peripheral neuropathy did worsen but not to the degree I had with Carbo/Taxol and is now easing off again. My CA-125 dropped from 611 to 53 in two months, slowly to 46 after 5 months but then rose to 99. All my lymph nodes disappeared apart from two, which have now taken nearly six months to grow to 13 mm. All in all I found it much easier to cope with than the three-weekly Carbo/Taxol.
