Trial update - parp inhibitor & immunotherapy combo

Hello everyone

I've just had the results of my first CT scan since starting the BGB A317 & BGB290 trial. After 9 weeks of treatment my main tumour has shrunk by about 50% and the smaller ones are also reduced (but a bit harder to measure), my CA125 is now down to an "almost normal" 58. My oncologist and trial nurse are so excited, it's the best result they've seen so far.

It's been quite emotional really to get such a tremendous result with basically no side effects at all. So hubby and I are going away for a few days to celebrate - walking in the Warrumbungle Mountains (go on google it!).

Best wishes Dawn

Great news, Dawn. Glad the parp inhibitor works for you, and without side effects too. From my perspective that's a great ca125 value as well. :)

May it stay this way & all the best. Maus

Excellent news, Dawn! How many more to go until you reach the end of treatment? Sending positive thoughts for the remaining 50% to bugger off too 😁

Thanks Hopefulgal - here is a link to the trial locations (Australia, NZ, Spain & US). I'm in rural Australia, so it's pretty amazing to have access to a trial out of the capital city ... Dawn xx

Ah me the usual exclusion criteria of platinum resistant. But Thankyou so much for taking the time to send the link and may your journey continue to be a happy positive one!

in reply toHopefulgal1

I don't get why you have to be sensitive to platinum for some of the novel therapies as they don't seem to involve platinum ... have you ever been given a decent explanation?

Take care Dawn

I know it’s SO frustrating- perhaps the drug companies want the best possible results they can have so if one hasn’t responded well (or has stopped responding to platinum based ) then perhaps that means you are not an ideal candidate. But it feels so tough as I’ve npw given up looking for a clinical trial as they all seem to be this way ( apart from the CEBOC which sadly I also didn’t qualify for 😞) But despite that I’m so glad these new therapies are working for some of you brave women out there!!! Xxx

I'm keeping everything crossed for you that something will come up. Here's hoping. xx

Well, I now know where the mountains are but not how to pronounce them. Looks great. Hope you have a superb hiking holiday and get more good news from the trial.
